A university professor posed a challenge to his students. Each of them had a balloon with their name. The balloons would fall from the ceiling and they would have 5 minutes to find theirs. If everyone found the one with their name, they won... if not, they lost. Although they tried with all their energy to find them, no one succeeded. The teacher put the balloons back and told them, "When you catch a balloon, give it to its owner". The test took less than 3 minutes to complete. The teacher finished by saying, "Happiness is like these balloons. If each of us looks only for our own, we will never find it. But if we look for others', we will also find ours." Exactly the same happens with teamwork in companies. If you help others achieve their goals, others will do the same with you. #leadership #happiness #experiment

This is awesome 🙌🏼 such a great teaching! I love this story! The same can be said for compassionate leadership, give compassion to others, assume good intent, when we operate from this principle we can be the light in others life whilst also achieving the goal.

My take and I have been telling the following tale to my teams : Everyone would like to receive good stuff. If we wait to receive but do not start to give, it's essentially a stalemate. But if we all start with giving first, everyone will receive.

So much platic waste for a lesson that could be taught easily in another sustainable way!

I attended a business training workshop many decades ago in which a group exercise required us to trade between groups and collect as many tokens as possible to win. I was chastised for using a cooperative approach, even though our group won, because we enabled other groups to collect more than they would have if we'd been more competitive in approach. Hopefully business interaction training has become more sensible since then...(?). [Is being the spoilt brat of the family really the best way to create a stronger family and a great place to live? I suspect that in some places that is the belief.]

I agree we should always help others to achieve there goals, always live leadership, be dedicated to our task and be rigidly loyal to our Company .We should by nature believe all people want to be at that level but wise enough to realize there are people who in spite of there visible actions do not want you to succeed . The teacher did a great life lesson

I try to explain this at work when we are conducting reviews. I ask why we aren't working with the teams doing the work instead of marking the work when it's done.
