Full disclosure: Hernan Bonomo is my husband, and the person who has most shaped my political perspective. We often vehemently disagree particularly in the recent roller coaster years of global and national politics that we follow. I readily admit that with the arc of hindsight, he's usually right and I've come to appreciate his ability to cut through the noise, link seemingly disparate events, and write with a moving clarity. This is worth a read for those who care about #equity #justice and #civilrights. follow up note: he will never be right about what music to listen to on a road trip.
Independent advisor on communications, strategy and resource mobilization. Read me on medium.com/@hernan.bonomo
We have foolishly allowed the capture of genuine civil rights movements by an alliance between opportunistic elites whose only concern is self-preservation, and narcissistic, closeted authoritarians disguised as "socially progressive liberals" on a quest to spread their sense of cultural superiority. This phony diversity doesn't promote equality or any sense of justice and must be rejected.

Success on Your Own Terms ~ High Performance for Executive Rebels | I ignite executive gatherings with humanity & community | Guru for the New Millennium/Breath of Fresh Air in Leadership - Forbes
This is a really interesting declaration to consider when contemplating equality under the privileges of class and power. Both for those who hold it and for those who do not, privilege has a warping effect on how we apply these very basic ideas to the fundamental truth of life. This cultural feature, we can't call it a glitch, separates us from each other, costing us innumerable opportunities for insight, compassion, creativity, and the joy of connection. And it also requires each of us expend significant energy to don different masks as we shield the fundamental humanity within us. Imagine how we might lead if this weren't the case. What say you to this? Thanks to Narendra Nandoe for bringing this article to mind.
