We are pleased to join the International Responsible Business Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector. The aim of the agreement is to promote international responsible business conduct (IRBC) in the renewable energy sector. We do this by jointly identifying and addressing human rights and environmental risks in the value chain🤝 Sustainability is an integral part of our business. As a leading green grid operator, we intend to expand existing due diligence practices and minimize impact on people and planet. We will do this in the coming years, especially in our offshore portfolio in Germany and the Netherlands, where we have long term framework contracts in an international setting. Dr. Johannes Kammer, Associate Director 2GW at TenneT explains: ‘We are in challenging times where the energy market needs innovative changes to achieve a carbon-neutral European energy system. TenneT aims to accelerate this transition with a holistic view on sustainability. 13 June marked a significant milestone in the European #electricitymarket as Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) organized the successful go-live of the first pan-European Intraday Auctions (IDAs). 🤝 This monumental project which seamlessly coordinated several central, regional, and local systems, showcases the collaborative effort of all NEMOs and TSOs working hand-in-hand, on a daily basis to enhance market efficiency and energy security across #Europe. 💪⚡ The IDAs represent a groundbreaking development in the European #energy landscape, providing Market Parties with new trading opportunities three times a day. For the first time ever, a Big Bang go-live approach was implemented for a pan-European project. Unlike the Continuous #Intraday Market – which required four go-live waves between 2018 and 2022 to cover the entire geographical scope – the implementation of IDAs was achieved in one single, coordinated effort. This unprecedented approach was far more complex and challenging, yet ultimately more efficient. A scoop! As of June 13, Intraday Auctions (IDAs) is successfully introduced. This means that the price of electricity in the intraday market for almost all European countries is for the first time linked to transfer capacity. The new IDA market mechanism integrates the price of transfer capacity into intraday trading. And that should lead to optimal utilisation of transfer capacity across national borders. Intraday market coupling is an essential part of an efficient and effective European internal energy market for both market parties and TSOs. With the growing share of weather-dependent renewable energy, the importance of interconnection between countries is also increasing. For market parties, cross-border trade is an important tool to balance positions. This is a good example of cooperation moving Europe forward. The #energytransition must prioritise #affordability, necessitating collaboration with suppliers and the right contractual settings. 📊 We observe an increase in volume and a growing emphasis on #sustainability. These trends are shaping the #future of energy distribution across the continent. 🌱 We are tackling upstream emissions through procurement and CO2 reduction strategies. Our SF6 exit #strategy aims a ram up and implementation by 2030 with 2/3 of all our new assets, alongside developing bridging technologies and natural gas-based solutions. 💡 Focusing on procurement and sustainability evaluation criteria, we support technological #innovation, acknowledging that while SF6 applications are superior from a technological standpoint, our portfolio must evolve to more sustainable, SF6-free solutions. 🤝 Through innovation #partnerships and supporting universities, we can raise awareness of climate goals. 🎉 Congratulations to Noordzeker (Pensioenfonds ABP, APG and SSE Renewables) and Zeevonk II (Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners) on winning the tender for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Beta offshore wind farms.  🙌 We will connect the wind farms through our first two 2 GW DC connections. This will allow us to transport more wind to land than ever before. We look forward to a successful cooperation! Anew era of #2GW: Cable production for BalWIin4 & LanWin1 starts 🔌 🌊 Production of 525 kV high-performance cables for the BalWin4 and LanWin1 #offshore grid connection systems has begun in Donghae, South Korea. These cables set new standards in the 2 GW Program and enable the efficient, low-loss transmission of two gigawatts of direct current over long distances. 🔗 The cable production, part of the framework agreement with the consortium of Jan De Nul Group, LS Cable & System und Denys, comprises a total of 1,650 kilometres of cable.For each project, 275 kilometres of route length will be realised, of which 165 kilometres will be submarine cables and 110 kilometres will be land cables. 🚢 The laying of the submarine cable is planned for the second half of 2026, using the for the time being largest cable-laying vessel ‘Fleeming Jenkin’ worldwide.
