As a member of the Department of Education’s school nutrition office, you will be responsible for consultative and administrative work of considerable difficulty in developing policies, procedures, and guidelines for the administration and operation of the school nutrition programs (SNP): National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Seamless Summer Option (SSO), Afterschool Snack Program (ASP), Special Milk Program, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). Work involves identifying and assessing school nutrition needs and developing immediate and long-range plans for meeting those needs in regard to maintaining local compliance. Work also includes establishing internal and external partnerships to support school nutrition, in addition to conducting administrative and procurement reviews.

HTL Coordinators will support individual LEA engagement in a rural district collaborative designed to support local students, educators, and families with achieving shared goals related to postsecondary and workforce success. They will support the development and maintenance of strong regional partnerships and will also engage regularly with the HTL Project Director within the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) to work towards replicability of the rural collaborative across Tennessee. At the individual district level, they will facilitate project communication, development of deliverables and reports, fiscal management, and communication with the Tennessee Department of Education and other state agencies as needed. This role will also involve coordinating with other key district leaders and educators to facilitate strong implementation of program initiatives.

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Senior Coordinator will review and revise CTE programs of study and course standards for the following career clusters: Advanced Manufacturing, Architecture & Construction, and Transportation. The position works closely with local education agencies (LEAs), industry advisor councils, and state advisors of the appropriate Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to promote and provide seamless college and career pathways for students.

The Legislative Liaison assists in the day-to-day operations of the Policy and Legislative Affairs (PLA) team of the department and leads many direct Tennessee General Assembly member outreach efforts and communications. The liaison cultivates meaningful relationships with elected officials and strategic partners across the state through effective communication, significant engagement, and transparency. The liaison works to amplify the policy positions of the Governor and the department to the General Assembly in order to secure alignment on issues related to preK-12 education. The liaison also works to inform and engage department content experts in the legislative process to support high-quality analysis and implementation of legislation.

The Accountability team sets and executes the policies by which schools and districts are evaluated in accordance with state and federal law. The Accountability Data Analyst will report to the Director of Accountability Analytics. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to support and implement the state’s district and school accountability framework. This analyst will support the Accountability team by reviewing documentation for various accountability project and process plans that result in the calculations of the state, district, and school’s accountability data. This role will have a significant impact on the accuracy and quality of the data produced by the Tennessee Department of Education, while also providing insight and feedback on the processes and business rules used in the review periods of the documentation.

Special education consultants are an integral part of the CORE regional support team concentrating on Improving outcomes for students with disabilities through system-level strategies and change ideas. This includes access and supports for students with disabilities to high-quality tier I instruction and high-quality instructionally appropriate IEPs. This position works with the regional CORE office team by partnering with district leaders to diagnose, plan, implement, and monitoring change ideas that will lead to improved outcomes for students.
