Nearly a full week at Access and learning what’s it’s like to be a sales leader in legal tech. My Key learns: 1) Being the new kid is scary but exciting: It’s been 16 years since I moved roles, not to mention changing industries and I had forgotten how intimidating it is to meet new faces, talk a new language and learn new ways of working but everyone at The Access Group have been amazing, answering all of my questions , going out of their way to help and slowly I am making sense of the acronyms. 2) Managing Partners and CEO’s / Sales Directors challenges aren’t that different: Overall they want to grow their business, make it more efficient , save fee earner time , improve service and attract the very best talent . You don’t need to be a techy to talk through how to overcome these! 3) Sales team challenges are sales team challenges, regardless of industry. 4) The OPPORTUNITY for Access Legal is huge! We have a GREAT team and brilliant minds all working together, with extreme ownership and strategy execution we will have a massive H2. Finally…. I will sleep well this weekend (note to others, don’t move house and start a new job in the same week 😳)

For the first time in over a decade in Sweden, I find myself open on the job market. I’m not in any huge rush (excuse the pun) and have a few things cooking, so don't anticipate being available for long, but if you are looking to add a Stockholm-based, senior, quota-carrying sales professional to your international team, drop me a message ASAP. Two key things I am looking for in my next role are for the company to have an international flavour and for the product/service to have outstanding potential in its early years, or be an already established player. You might also be a UK/European-based company looking to access the Nordics, or a Nordic-based company looking to enter the UK. 🔥 Big life update 🔥 Your boy is headed to Boundless Immigration full-time as VP of Sales. After consulting for the last few months, it became crystal clear to me that this was the move. I’m so excited about the work and the future ahead with this company. Here’s my why: 1️⃣ The role. I’ve been an SDR, an ISR, a Mid-Market AE, an Ent AE, a front-line manager, a Director and a VP. One of the hardest truths I’ve learned in tech is that results aren’t tranferable from one co to the next (good or bad), but learnings can be. I’m ready to put it all together (the good, the bad, the ugly) and bet on myself as the revenue leader. 2️⃣ The purpose. As a second-generation immigrant who grew up seeing how hard my Taiwanese parents worked to create a better life for their kids, our mission to reduce friction for businesses to hire/sponsor international employees hits close to home. TBH it has never been my life’s mission to advocate for immigrants, but given the opportunity to help make a difference, I can genuinely say it feels so good and so right. 3️⃣ The team. In a genius move by Xiao, Romish, Selina and the rest of the team who brought me in part-time and gave me all the freedom to design, build and run the sales team, I found myself caring more deeply about the people and more attached to the outcomes every day. Daniel, Kevin, James, Dylan, Shana- I am so looking forward to what this special group can do together. I see a lot, and I am convinced that a crucial aspect of sales development team dynamics is to hire for maturity. The data shows that if you hire professional ISR/SDR teams committed to doing that job well, the possibilities for stable and ground-breaking pipeline coverage programmes are limitless (only governed by the size and the dynamics of the offering you can service). Give me a team of mid-career, life-experienced, diligent people with strong family commitments. I will show you a team that functions at all the right pillars of operational execution. If you give me a team of exclusively first jobbers; the execution gap widens. This will obviously fuel perceptions and industry belief systems, but my observations, having worked with over 700 sales development organisations in the mid-upper mid-market, are that professional sales development is where effective execution meets corporate strategy. #27seconds
