Data drives clinical decision making – and collecting patient data on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) can help create a more informed picture about the health of LGBTQ individuals USCDI Version 3 (USCDI v3) included new data elements that promote health equity. The use of USCDI v3 supports data users' abilities to identify, assess, and analyze gaps in care, which could in turn be used to inform and address the quality of health care through interventions and strategies. This could lead to better patient care, experiences, and health outcomes. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dcZN2B3u #healthequity #SOGI #USCDIv3

As Pride Month comes to a close, we want to celebrate and recognize the vast contributions of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ ) community. This month also serves as an opportunity for AMCP to reaffirm our commitment to working toward achieving health equity among underserved communities including those associated with sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). Health disparities related to SOGI can lead to avoidable hospital readmissions, reduced quality of care, and higher costs. The Health Equity Action Brief on SOGI was developed to provide tools for managed care pharmacists to understand medication use, misuse, health outcomes, and plan limitations by SOGI in order to identify gaps in care and develop interventions to address inequities. https://bit.ly/43C8Kki #healthequity #pridemonth #managedcare

Evans Kwabena Forson,Chairman and CEO @ Safe Save Ghana | Strategic Planning/Human Rights Advocate/Academia/Researcher
why President , should refrain from signing the Anti-LGBTQ Bill into law .There are several reasons. Firstly, it violates basic human rights and freedoms, including the right to privacy and freedom of expression. Enacting such legislation could lead to discrimination, harassment, and violence against LGBTQ individuals, exacerbating social divisions. Additionally, criminalizing LGBTQ identities could hinder efforts to combat HIV/AIDS and other public health challenges by driving marginalized communities underground and away from essential services. Instead, the government should focus on promoting equality, tolerance, and education to foster a more inclusive society that respects the rights and dignity of all its citizens.

As we celebrate love, acceptance and diversity this Pride Month, we also want to shine a light on substance use disorder (SUD). SUD affects millions of people worldwide, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. According to NIDA, about 6.7% of adults who identify as LGBTQ misused opioids (prescription opioids or heroin) in the past year, compared to 3.6% of the overall adult population. Pride is about lifting each other up. If you or someone you know is struggling with SUD, please visit https://hubs.ly/Q02z9GSC0 or call our 24/7/365 Patient Access Center, with virtual visits and bridge prescriptions, at 866-985-3406. #addiction #addictiontreatment #pridemonth #SUD #recovery #recoveryispossible

An important reflection on the SOGI Session from the recent US CDISC Interchange:
Had a chance to revisit the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Intersex Status Data Collection presentation slides from last month's CDISC US Interchange. The talk was a candid reminder of the importance of including underrepresented populations like the LGBTQ community in clinical trials. Thanks to the panel and to CDISC for addressing this crucial area of data collection.

Today is International Day of Sign Languages. Thank you PrideLab for organizing a human library session that highlighted: - The intersectional nature of identities, with a focus on disability (deafness) and transgender - Implications such as the need of equitable access to healthcare services (or the lackthereof) for marginalized groups in Hong Kong. In this case, it is sign interpretaters who are a) well-trained and professional b)with an understanding of LGBT vocabs What could workplaces potentially do to fill the gap? What ideas could we draw from this story and apply to the workplace? #diversityequityinclusion

Talking to your teens. By Courtney Braswell. https://lnkd.in/eehPaHJP As a mom, I know how much more challenging it is in today’s culture than it used to be. Between social media and current cultural LGBT awareness and trends, there is so much more to consider than when we grew up. Teens need their parents to help them navigate the world as it is today. I also know that talking about sex with your teenager can feel awkward and be uncomfortable. Being open and honest and admitting your feelings is helpful. LGBTQ employees often face challenges accessing medically necessary care, even with robust healthcare plans. There can be a lack of clarity on relevant services, making it difficult for employees to understand their benefits. Additionally, your LGBTQ employees may feel pressured to out themselves to gain information about gender-affirming care, for example. It's important for employers to develop and share an LGBTQ benefits guide outlining offerings specific to the LGBTQ community, including family formation services like IVF, HIV/AIDS care and transition related care. Does your business provide an LGBTQ benefits guide? If not, consider developing one this #PrideMonth. #HappyPride #LGBTQEmployeeBenefits #InclusiveBenefits #GenderAffirmingCare 🏳️🌈
