Men's Health Month is all about raising awareness and promoting healthy habits for men’s physical, mental and emotional health. Men in the United States die an average of 5 years earlier than women and are at higher risk for many serious diseases, including heart disease, lung cancer and prostate cancer. Although all men are at risk for prostate cancer, Black men are at higher risk. They are twice as likely to get and die from prostate cancer than white men. Telligen is proud to offer our own suite of health equity solutions to identify and eliminate healthcare disparities to improve health for all. Learn more at Telligen.com/health-equity.

As more and more US healthcare providers are forced to merge in order to survive, some of these mergers lay bare the chronic design inadequacies of America's private health system. If there is no money in it, you as a patient will not get the health services you need. In rural health that means a long drive to a hospital or care facility that is still open given massive recent closures. In larger communities it could come down to whether the owner of your local hospital makes money out of providing things like Emergency services and cancer care treatment. No money. No service! Whole parts of the United States could soon be without available healthcare. https://lnkd.in/gtBPccHE

Bridging the Gap: Addressing Rare Disease Care Disparities Patients with rare diseases face significant challenges, including delayed diagnoses and limited treatment options, underpinned by disparities in care. These issues stem from systemic inequities, awareness gaps, and insufficient research, affecting millions globally. Marginalized communities experience exacerbated inequities, with socioeconomic factors, location, and ethnicity impacting care quality and clinical trial access. The scarcity of specialists and research funding, coupled with limited general healthcare provider understanding, often forces patients and families into advocacy roles. However, overcoming systemic barriers requires a collective effort. Key initiatives to combat these disparities include: - Increased Research Funding: Boosting investment in rare disease research to enhance diagnostics, treatments, and understanding of disease impact across communities. - Enhanced Access to Care: Implementing telemedicine and mobile clinics, alongside insurance reforms, to improve access for underserved populations. - Education and Awareness: Raising awareness among healthcare providers and the public to ensure early diagnoses and compassionate care, promoting an inclusive approach. - Patient-Centric Advocacy: Elevating patient and family voices in decision-making processes to tailor solutions to the diverse needs of the rare disease community. Addressing rare disease care disparities is essential for building a healthcare system that respects and serves every patient's dignity and needs. Together, we can illuminate the challenges of invisible illnesses and advocate for a more equitable healthcare landscape. #RareDiseases #HealthEquity #PatientAdvocacy #InclusiveHealthcare #rarediseaseday

Say what you want about long wait lists and overcrowded waiting rooms and burned out staff, but when healthcare professionals slough off a patient's concern and worry or neglects to show them empathy, it has nothing to do with a system that’s barely standing. Rather, it’s about a healthcare professional unable to take a moment to consider the human in front of them. Healthing #patientvoices #patientsvote #livedexperience https://lnkd.in/gsjByYcf

Did you know that at least 50% of the world lacks access to safe, affordable, and timely healthcare? Many families in low- and middle-income countries, especially in remote areas, face limited access to healthcare, diagnosis, and treatment. Furthermore, these areas still lack basic medical facilities such as hospitals, clinics, and primary care centers. Given this reality, and as a member of a leading medical technology company like Siemens Healthineers, I am deeply proud to assure all of you that we are dedicated to improving patient outcomes and experiences, regardless of their location. Our dedication knows no bounds. That's why we provide these regions with end-to-end solutions, from screening and diagnosis to therapy and follow-up, for better management of infectious and non-communicable diseases like #Cancer, #Stroke, or #CardiovascularDiseases, among others. Yes, the challenges are immense - from limited infrastructure to inadequate resources. But together, on #WorldHealthDay and every day, we must bridge the gap and pave the way for a healthier future. #AccessToCare https://lnkd.in/dT3i69_j
