From a personal journey that started with frustration to having it evolved into a transformative movement : Almost 2.5 years ago, I found myself on the brink of an accident caused by illegal waste dumping of mixed plastic waste on the roads of Mombasa County. The question that echoed in my mind was, "Who would do that?" In response, I knew I had to step up and take action.
The vision was to build a community-centered movement, one that could be a catalyst for positive change. Today, Baus Taka Enterprise stands as a testament to that vision, creating a positive impact, building zero waste communities, and actively contributing to a sustainable future by reducing marine plastic pollution.
Our young girls and women eco champions are at the forefront of the #StopPlasticPollution Campaign, taking bold steps toward climate action. Their dedication and enthusiasm are nothing short of inspiring, and there's nothing more fulfilling to me than witnessing their impact.
I want to express my gratitude to Al Jazeera Media for recognizing and featuring the efforts of our local community in segregating plastic waste and creating income opportunities. It's heartening to see our work gaining visibility and support.
Currently, the momentum is growing at #INC3 in Nairobi, where delegates are working towards establishing an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution.
This is a crucial step in our collective journey to combat plastic pollution in sub Saharan Africa & in a glocal scale; advocating for a plastics treaty actively reducing plastic production.

Empowering, enabling and unlocking access to sustainable choices one community at a time, is what we do, and part of who we are as leading enablers of the circular economy. Imagine fishermen using new durable
Fishnets made from their old fishnets, using sunglasses made from their old and discarded fishnets and fabric and jackets made from their old fishnets. Imagine no pollution from noisy and leaking outboard motors and healthier seas including alternative livelihoods from safeguarding the coastal and river environments. That’s what we envisage for 38 coastal communities across Africa by 2040. Our vision is to be key enablers of the circular economy in Africa, leveraging innovation, collaboration and technology to unlock access to sustainable lifestyles. 🌍 Happy International Plastic Free Day! 🌍
Did you know that over 380 million tons of plastic are produced every year, with half of it designed for single use? This staggering amount of plastic often ends up in our oceans and landfills, harming marine life and polluting our environment.
In honor of this day, 25 May 2024, I am thrilled to share my documentary on plastic pollution, which has won 2nd prize in the World Town Planning Day 2023 competition. This project is close to my heart as it highlights the critical issue of plastic waste and the urgent need for action.

ENALEIA - Together With The Fishers 🐠
As part of our mission to revive our oceans, we’re delighted to be partnering with Enaleia, a Greek NGO dedicated to combatting plastic pollution by collaborating with fishers across the Mediterranean to collect ocean waste while they’re fishing.
On our recent trip to Greece, our CEO Tom Cotter sat down with Enaleia founder, Lefteris Arapakis to discuss his journey and some of the challenges along the way.
Check out this clip where Lefteris discusses “The Tipping Point” and how it snowballed their operation into what it has become today!

At least 14 million pieces of plastic waste find their way into the oceans each year. Plastic makes up to 80% of marine debris and 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and a further 1 million sea birds are killed every year by ocean plastic pollution, according to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). Therefore, cleaning our coast lines has never been more important. Last weekend, PASH GLOBAL participated in a beach cleaning event in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The event was organised by our partners P0&AC TRADING in conjunction with PASH. We were delighted to sponsor this event and to support our long-term commitment to tackling pollution and raising awareness in developing countries about the benefits of recycling.
In Ivory Coast, we mobilised over 100 people. Covering a small section of the beach, our team members found a huge amount of plastics, waste and some very unusual items (toys and collectibles) highlighting for us the scale of the waste challenge that humanity is facing. Removing harmful plastics and dangerous domestic rubbish from our coastlines is extremely vital to provide safer environments for sea life and to preserve the natural beauty of our beaches and oceans.
This is the reason why at PASH we have devised policies, that aim to reduce plastic use wherever possible.

A cleaner ecosystem is a necessity, especially in a coastal region like Lagos.
To demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding the environment, Stren & Blan Partners, on 7 October, 2023, organized a beach cleaning exercise to reduce the volume of waste along the Elegushi Beach coastline, in Lagos State. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with African CleanUp Initiative (ACINIGERIA), a non-governmental organisation.
Together, we tackled plastic pollution head-on, collecting and sorting over 1600 kilograms of waste for recycling and proper disposal.
Organizations like Stren & Blan Partners and African Clean Up Initiative who are committed to environmental stewardship, play a vital role in granting communities access to clean water and preventing further pollution in regions that rely on these pristine coastlines for smooth economic activities.
Let’s keep the momentum going and take a stand against plastic pollution in Nigeria, keep our coastlines clean, and promote an eco-conscious culture for a brighter, cleaner future!
