#10 DOFA Multimodality is one of the keys to remote sensing foundation models. Most of the methods, however, focus on just one of them. DOFA employs an innovative approach utilizing wavelength as a unifying parameter across various EO modalities to achieve a more cohesive multimodal representation. DOFA is trained using a masked image modeling strategy, and a distillation loss is included to further optimize its performance. what I liked the most: the wavelength approach paper: https://lnkd.in/dTBSEHk4 #50papers #AI4EO #remotesensing #deeplearning #GeoAI

Check-out this really cool short demo highlighting the date-capturing capabilities of Hydrus AUV. Even though I know the product well, without the on-screen text I would have struggled to tell you which was the actual video capture and which was the digital-twin 3D model of the shipwreck. Game-changing technology!!!
Excited to share our latest achievement with Hydrus' cutting-edge photogrammetry capabilities! 🌊 Hydrus has truly revolutionised our data capture operations with its ease of use and affordability. This single-user, hand-deployed device has slashed our data capture costs by approximately 75%. It's a game-changer for anyone needing geo-referenced 4K video for ground truthing and seabed verification. The high-quality data it provides is unparalleled. 📷📍 We recently put Hydrus to the test, capturing nearly 4000 images that were processed using the Curtin HIVE computer, thanks to the incredible support from Curtin University HIVE (Andrew Woods) and Western Australian Museum (Ross Anderson). The results were astonishing! The detailed digital twins created from the data highlight the power of Hydrus combined with advanced computational resources. Below, you can see the comparison: Top: Captured with our 4K camera. Bottom: Processed through Curtin HIVE’s supercomputer, resulting in a model with approximately 154 million triangles. It's incredible to see the level of detail and accuracy achievable. While not everyone has access to the same workstation computer used to generate this high quality model, the data you capture with Hydrus will be more than sufficient for any job regardless of the processing power you have on hand.

A new study has been published concerning the determination of aerosol properties using images from an all-sky camera. The presented approach works in all sky conditions, but with focus partially cloudy scenes. A Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) machine learning has been used to associate RGB radiances with aerosol optical depth (AOD) and Angstrom exponent (AE) observed by AERONET. The method has been tested on a 2-year dataset with varying atmospheric conditions. AOD and AE predictions showed excellent agreement with AERONET measurements, particularly when using the quality assurance method.. Sensitivity analysis confirms the stability of our methodology, especially when using quality assurance criteria. This approach could potentially enhance the use of all-sky cameras in studying aerosol-cloud interactions in partially cloudy scenarios. https://lnkd.in/dbRSTzz4

Generating Satellite Images Generated Conditioned on Maps Download a PDF of the paper titled Generate Your Own Scotland: Satellite Image Generation Conditioned on Maps, by Miguel Espinosa and 1 other authors Download PDF Abstract: Despite recent advancements in image generation, diffusion models still remain largely underexplored in Earth Observation. In this paper we show that state-of-the-art pretrained diffusion models can be conditioned on cartographic data to generate realistic satellite images. We provide two large datasets of paired OpenStreetMap images and satellite views over the region of Mainland Scotland and the Central Belt. We train a ControlNet model and qualitatively evaluate the results, demonstrating that both image quality and map fidelity are possible. Finally, we provide some insights on the opportunities and challenges of applying these models for remote sensing. Our model weights and code for creating the dataset are publicly available at this https URL. Submission history From: Elliot J.
