First up, we have Session 3: Mega PGM Demand Trends Through Different Lenses, featuring Bernhard Fuchs, Dr. (Umicore), Margery (Marge) Ryan (Johnson Matthey), and Emma Townshend (Implats) as speakers, and moderated by Nicky Shiels (MKS PAMP). This session explores the outlook for platinum group metals, the risks associated with recycling catalysts, and how the energy transition has unique implications for the PGMs, while the PGMs have unique implications for the energy transition. And secondly, we have Elin Hauge’s (AI & Business Strategist) keynote address Artificial Intelligence: Beyond the Hype and Hysteria. In her presentation, Elin tackles the ever-present fear of machines taking over humanity and explains how we can use mathematics to ameliorate the benefits of AI. "AI is the natural next step," Elin says in her speech. "We have the data and the processes. Now it makes sense to apply maths to make the data useful. But we need to become better versions of humans before we can trust the machines to become better machines." Also available to view are the Welcome Remarks from Paul Fisher (LBMA Chairman), John Cullen (LPPM Chairman and Director, Johnson Matthey) and Ruth Crowell (LBMA CEO), as well as a special address by Chairman Yu (Shanghai Gold Exchange) focusing on the importance of collaboration. I am thrilled to have participated in the 2024 ICTAZ AGM Conference and Symposium. This event holds significant importance in our country, bringing together professionals involved in computing and technology to exchange ideas and innovations that drive our technological advancement.
