Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the first Tutors' Congress, organized by "Teach For Ukraine" in Kyiv on June 17. We conducted three training waves throughout this two-year project, engaging over 7,000 children. The congress in Kyiv brought together 100 teachers with tutoring skills from various regions of the country. More than 300 educators participated in the research, delivering over 50,000 sessions as part of the project. 👨🏫 The project's goal is to address educational losses in mathematics and the Ukrainian language and provide socio-emotional support to Ukrainian students in grades 5-10. It has become the first and largest randomized controlled trial in the education sector in Ukraine. The results will soon be published on the organization's pages. This event marked the culmination of a two-year project focused on addressing educational losses, carried out in partnership with the The World Bank and supported by the UBS Optimus Foundation. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners for their unwavering support! 💙

💡The latest independent evaluation of NELI by National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) showed children made an average of 4 months additional progress & children who were eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) made an additional seven months progress! Read about the incredible impact of NELI in the post below⬇️
In 2007, the Foundation greenlit funding for new research into an intervention for young children needing extra help with their speech and language. The results of that first study have now grown into NELI - Nuffield Early Language Intervention, a fully-fledged programme delivering transformational support to tens of thousands of four and five-year-olds in primary schools in England. Our Education Director Josh Hillman has been involved in shaping and developing NELI for many years. The programme is provided by OxEd and Assessment. Evaluations funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) prove its effectiveness (particularly for children on Free School Meals), and the Department for Education has extended NELI's funding into the 2023/24 academic year. As we commemorate the International Day of Education on 24 January, the theme 'Learning for Lasting Peace' holds even greater significance today. It signifies a critical introspection regarding the potential reformation of education to tackle contemporary global challenges. The objectives set by UNESCO for this year resonate strongly with the need for educational transformation worldwide, a sentiment I share in my observations.🌍✨. 🕊️ Promoting Peace through Education Education has the remarkable ability to break down biases and construct connections in divided societies. Human rights, sustainable development, and peace should take center stage in our educational institutions. They are more than simply topics for the classroom; they are guiding concepts that should permeate all aspects of our educational institutions. 📚 Education at a Crossroads Over 260 million children and young people worldwide still need to be in school. Given the circumstances, it is important to reevaluate our educational approach to engage the younger generation effectively and foster a deep understanding of peace and human rights. 👥 Challenging Hate, Building Tolerance The importance of providing educators and learners with the necessary tools to combat hate speech and intolerance is highlighted in recent publications by UNESCO, such as 'Addressing Hate Speech through Education.' As someone who strongly supports inclusive education, I believe these resources are integral to guiding policy-makers and educators. 🧑🏫 The Role of Educators and Communities The transformation of education into a force for peace begins in our classrooms and extends into our communities. Teachers are not just conveyors of knowledge but architects of a more tolerant and peaceful society. We must support them with resources, training, and the freedom to inspire change. Now...What is your voice in shaping tomorrow? 🌱How do you envision the role of education in fostering a more peaceful world? Your insights are vital in this journey towards transformative learning. ➡ For a deeper understanding of the aims and recommendations discussed, you can explore the full UNESCO documents here: https://lnkd.in/dYy4Jmwe https://lnkd.in/d8R2DtW4 https://lnkd.in/dH2imwcr #InternationalDayOfEducation #EducationForPeace #GlobalEducation #TransformativeLearning

🔗 https://lnkd.in/edCEZBZS 📰 The potential of place-based learning in terms of decolonization of education 👤 Viktoria Perevozniuk (Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University) Abstract The challenges facing Ukraine as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war necessitate significant changes in approaches to education, particularly in terms of decolonization and the affirmation of Ukrainian identity. In this context, it is useful to take into account the pedagogical experience of developed countries that have faced similar problems in the past. First of all, we are talking about the use of educational practices of the pedagogical approach of Place-based Education, a trend that emerged in the late twentieth century, the fundamental principles of which are immersion of learning in the local context, establishing strong ties between the school and the territorial community, increased attention to national-patriotic and civic education, and priority didactic technologies - integrated and project-based learning. The purpose of the study is to reveal the potential of locally oriented learning in terms of decolonization of education and involves solving such tasks as analyzing foreign educational practices of locally oriented education that contribute to decolonization, identifying problems in the formation of the national identity of Ukrainian students, and formulating proposals for ways to overcome the identified problems. Methodology includes a set of theoretical methods to understand the world experience of locally oriented education, to analyze the prospects for the introduction of it in Ukrainian school education. The positive consequences of the introduction of locally oriented education are identified, namely: intensification of interaction between school, community and society, fostering affection for the native land, love for language and culture, and acquisition of historical knowledge. It is proved that locally oriented education contributes to the formation of national identity and citizenship of young people. Prospects for further research are seen in the study of the directions of implementation of locally oriented education #decolonization #locally_oriented_education #national_identity #civic_education #secondary_education #ScienceRise_Pedagogical_Education #technologycenter

This International Day of Education, reflect on the thousands of girls across the world that STILL do not have access to an education. If there is money for War, why is there no money for EDUCATION? World Peace starts and ends with EDUCATION. 2024 - Learning for lasting peace @unesco Learning for peace must be a transformative process, enabling learners to gain essential knowledge, values, attitudes, skills, and behaviors, thereby empowering them to serve as catalysts for peace in their communities. https://lnkd.in/d92nuEdw
