Bridging the Gap from Bong to Boardroom | VP of Marketing @ Green Leaf Business Solutions 🌱 | Cannabis Industry Communications & Business Development | 6X LinkedIn Community Top Voice | USMC Veteran
Humboldt has been so open and welcoming, but fear and uneasiness lingers in the air... I feel at home despite being a newcomer amongst this world of almost mythological importance to the birth of all that is the #cannabisindustry For the Good: I got to sit at the feet of a true master and talk shop about all things businesses meets culture with the one and only Chris Anderson Redwood Roots Distribution. I was awarded a merit badge by weed nuns (who knew that was a thing? and... they may have also been a cult based on their sign that said they were) on behalf of Green Check for activism for bringing banking to #cannabis operators I saw one of my many doppelgangers (who was literally mistaken for me and offered free drinks at MJ Bizcon, but doesn't look that similar in this picture) Aaron Salles of MOCA Humboldt. And I got to check out the amazing Dab Slabs by my boy 🐌Tim Grasso🥊. Not pictured but equally important hangs were had with Jocelyn Sheltraw, Tim Blake, and Joyce Cenali. For the not so good: It's wild to me to hear so many story of struggling farmers. Prop 64 has decimated small operators. A legendary place of honor and prestige is seemingly on the verge of becoming a graveyard of decimated businesses. Whether it's retailers stiffing their suppliers... Or price compression to the point of most products becoming loss leaders thanks to saturation and over regulation converging... It's frightening to see. Don't get me wrong... these aren't fly by night people. They aren't cowering from the harsh realities of a system not meant for them to succeed. Most I've talked to are gritty and resilient and putting up the fight of their lives... But I'm still concerned for the future of the plant. With each business we lose and piece of heart and the lifeblood of this culture turned industry is lost with them. We MUST come together to preserve the very backbone of how any and everything else in legal weed began.

Interesting piece in the Sunday Times about the debacle that has been the The Body Shop takeover and subsequent collapse after Aurelius bought it, but only stumped up £3.5m in actual cash for. It's alarming just how many other companies that they have got their hands on. What they got away with with Lloyds is astounding and the Bertrams takeover and subsequent failure really horrible for lots of people in the book trade. It's quite clear the government needs to change the law to make it harder for PE to use this playbook. Jonathan Reynolds (shadow business sec) needs this in his intray. The good news is that Natura have blocked their attempts at using the CVA process to screw over everyone else and gain control of the chain again out of admin because they have only paid such a tiny amount for the chain to them. So the bids we maybe seeing from Next and M&S could well stand a chance of succeeding. https://lnkd.in/eERnNiH9 #aurelius #bodyshop #retailmarketing

U.S. business bankruptcies are up 30% this year and I'm certain that number will continue to climb. It's important for business owners to mitigate financial loss by having David Clark put a trade credit insurance policy in place. It's the smart thing to do and it's far less expensive than you might think. #accountsreceivable #bankruptcy #corporate #food #retail #industrial #manufacturing #staffing
"While it had planned to sell the company under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, that did not happen and KDC filed to move into a Chapter 7 liquidation." #tradecreditinsurance #ariglobal

Here is another trading term for pet lovers, although less endearing! "Cats and dogs" in the financial market refer to stocks from companies involved in suspicious practices. These stocks are often traded over-the-counter (OTC) with limited regulatory oversight. They are typically low-priced penny stocks with small market caps and are vulnerable to illegal "pump-and-dump" schemes. Trading derivatives carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all individuals. #STARTRADER #tradingterms #forexeducation #forex #stockmarket #commoditiesmarket #investing

Good article by David Stevenson in the Financial Times which covers the latest product offerings from Hargreaves Lansdown, comparisons with other platforms and wealth managers, the active v passive debate, fund/portfolio costs and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). We thought it interesting - not just because it mentions Ekins Guinness LLP and our Diversified Growth Fund https://lnkd.in/eCnvfatD
