Heraldo de Aragón News! - Stellantis #Zaragoza begins work to install a giant wind turbine
Being self-sufficient with 80% renewable energy is what the company's management pursues with this hybrid solar and wind model, although it currently represents 40% of its electricity consumption.
The installation of a large wind turbine by the end of the year next to the Stellantis factory in #Zaragoza will change the image of the plant. Taking advantage of the celebration tomorrow, Wednesday, of World Environment Day, the company has sent a note to communicate that they are making progress in their decarbonization plan thanks to the hybrid self-consumption project started with Prosolia Energy in June 2021 with which they want to be self-sufficient in electricity. 80% once it is completed.
Installation work on the powerful wind turbine has already begun and will be completed by the end of the year, according to manufacturer Nordex.
This energy hybridization model for electrical self-consumption is a pioneer in Spain. It is committed to a mix of the two most competitive renewable source technologies currently, wind and photovoltaic, to guarantee a sustainable, stable and efficient supply 24 hours a day. A model in which Prosolia Energy, a vertically integrated European energy producer and leader in renewable energies, is Stellantis' ally.
The #automobile corporation thus takes another step in its 'Dare Forward 2030' plan to achieve neutrality in carbon emissions in 2038 since it will avoid the emission of 14,819 tons of carbon dioxide at its Zaragoza plant, thanks to a hybrid self-consumption project. carbon.
As reported by Stellantis this hybridization begins with the installation of a first wind turbine for self-consumption in the factory located in #Zaragoza with an installed power of 6.9 megawatts (MW). "This wind turbine has technology from Nordex Group, a wind turbine manufacturer owned by the Spanish group Acciona."
The renewable energy generated by the wind module will be added to that of the photovoltaic panels that are already in operation at the plant and were also installed by Prosolia Energy in the self-consumption mode.
According to Stellantis, the project, which is progressing in different phases, is expected to produce electricity in the future with a power of up to 30.8 MW from solar origin and 27.6 MW from wind, which will cover 80% of the #electricity needs of the #automobile factory with renewable sources, although it currently provides approximately 40% of the electricity consumed by the plant.
