World Day Against Trafficking In Persons Theme this year is "Leave no child behind in the fight against human trafficking!" I want to quote the UN, which has been combating this epidemic for the past 23 years, now with 141 countries joining them in the fight for global humanity. "To date, we have not effectively addressed the issue of child trafficking. This must change. Urgent and comprehensive action is essential to tackle this dire situation, protect vulnerable groups from exploitation, and support child victims of trafficking" - UN. https://lnkd.in/ejGWZWqS I have researched this growing problem for the past seven years and have come to understand that, yes, it is a global problem that will only be eradicated by a community solution. COME JOIN US AND THE REST OF OUR COMMUNITY BY BRINGING AWARENESS TO THE DANGERS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

What's the worst thing that can happen when a crime is committed against you? Having to tell your #story an endless number of times to different people is certainly one of these. 💬 That's why the victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) that come to the #FamilyJusticeCenter (FJC) in Moldova only have to tell their story to authorities and support providers once. But how does that work? Trauma-informed interviewing ensures that investigators only interview victims once about what happened when they arrive at the FJC. To avoid victims having to repeat their experiences too often, other actors can listen in from a separate room without being physically present in the interviewing room. This makes the victim feel safe while at the same time, allows investigations to proceed faster and more efficiently. Te Doy Foundation supported the design of and procedures for the use of this room. To learn more about the #project, visit our website! 😊 https://www.tdoy.org/

Pomilio Blumm 🔊 Launches the Campaign Against Human Trafficking 📊 Data reveals the harsh reality of human trafficking in Europe. In response, the European Commission, through the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME), has assigned Pomilio Blumm to spearhead an awareness campaign on this critical issue. The main message urges every citizen to take action and help break this invisible chain. ⛓ The campaign features characters depicted as invisible people, highlighting how increasing familiarity with their plight diminishes our motivation to intervene. The EU-wide "End Human Trafficking. Break the Invisible Chain" campaign aims to inform citizens about the reality of this crime and encourages them to join the fight against human trafficking. Did you know that, on average, 7,000 victims of human trafficking are registered in the EU every year, while many more go undetected? Over 50% are EU citizens who fall victim to various forms of trafficking, including sexual exploitation, labor exploitation, and forced begging. Nearly one in four trafficking victims in the EU is a child. Prevention is key to combating human trafficking. Human trafficking is a crime that has no place in our societies. It is often a violent crime committed by organized crime networks that devastates lives. 🔍 By raising awareness, we can ensure that fewer people fall into the hands of traffickers, and that victims of trafficking become visible and receive the support they need. 🎥 Watch the video and share your thoughts. #pomilioblumm #EUvshumantrafficking https://lnkd.in/d5sBm8je

Today, on #NationalHumanTraffickingAwarenessDay, we confront the harsh realities of human trafficking, a pervasive crime that shatters lives and undermines the dignity and freedom of millions worldwide. This day serves as a call to action, urging us to acknowledge the profound impact of trafficking and to work together to eradicate it. Understanding the Scope: - Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar criminal industry that preys on the most vulnerable, with an estimated 24.9 million people trapped in its grasp globally. - Trafficking transcends borders and demographics, manifesting in forced labor, sexual exploitation, and domestic servitude, among other forms. - Victims can be of any age, gender, or nationality, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of this atrocity. Recognizing the Signs: - Unexplained absences from work or school. - Signs of physical abuse or malnutrition. - Lack of control over personal finances or identification documents. - Isolation from family, friends, and community. How We Can Make a Difference: - Educate and Advocate: Awareness is the cornerstone of prevention. Educate yourself and others about the signs of human trafficking and advocate for policies that protect and support victims. - Support Survivors: Touch of Life Foundation is dedicated to rescuing victims, providing survivor support services, and advocating for stronger anti-trafficking laws. - Report and Act: If you suspect someone is a victim of trafficking, report it immediately. In the U.S., contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text "HELP" to 233733. --- Human trafficking is a complex issue that requires a united front. Governments, businesses, communities, and individuals all have a role to play in combating this crime. By fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge, we can create a world where freedom and dignity are not commodities but inherent rights. Let’s honor this day by committing to sustained action, supporting survivors in their journey to healing, and working tirelessly to end human trafficking. Together, we can make a profound impact. 💙 The picture attached, is from my time at Bal Ashram over the winter!
