Paving the Path to a #SustainableFuture Mr Atul Choudhari, Chief Technology Officer at Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (#TCE), recently participated in the Third #NetZero Summit. As a key panellist on #HydrogenEnergy, #FuelCells, & #CCUS Technology, Mr Choudhari emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to selecting #electrolytic #hydrogen #generation technologies. He stressed that the choice should not be based solely on the cost of the electrolyser. Instead, a comprehensive performance evaluation must consider end-user requirements, the operating regime, the source and stability of renewable energy, and specific energy consumption, along with a thorough lifecycle cost analysis. Mr Choudhari also highlighted the need to carefully evaluate high-pressure electrolysis operations to prevent the potential mixing of gases, which could create hazardous environments. He noted that while the specific energy requirements for pressurised versus atmospheric electrolysers with mechanical compression are similar, ongoing research in catalysis and materials is expected to significantly reduce the levelised cost of hydrogen generation in the near future. Additionally, with the rise of #smallmodularnuclearreactors for industry decarbonisation, high-temperature electrolysis could emerge as a preferred technology. #MilestoneAchieved: Tunnel Breakthrough in Malad West! On August 16, 2024, we proudly celebrated the first tunnel breakthrough for Mumbai city’s 5.8 km Priority Sewer Tunnel (PST-1) project. This remarkable achievement marks a significant step in developing the city’s infrastructure. The tunnel stretch runs from Shaft S07 at Malad STP to Shaft S06 at Old Malad Pumping Station, covering a total distance of 1607 meters. The tunnel boring commenced on November 23, 2023, and after 267 days of relentless effort, the breakthrough has been successfully achieved. The finished tunnel diameter is 3200mm with segmental lining, and the tunnel was bored using India’s smallest diameter rock slurry TBM, with a diameter of 3.85m. Our leaders, Mr Sanjeev Gupta (AVP—Infrastructure Business) and Mr Abhishek Gaurav, CEng (India) (AGM—Infrastructure Business) shared valuable insights into the transformative power of #technology in the #infrastructure sector.
