Kicking off this week reflecting on last week's highlight – facilitating workshops with Whitehorse City Council’s community groups on Council's Community Infrastructure Plan. We discussed current infrastructure trends and future needs with 2 community groups – arts and culture groups, and sporting groups (tennis and bowls). We got them thinking on: 〰 Future community infrastructure opportunities: What changes are the groups planning or forecasting in the next five years that will alter community's access to their services? 〰 Current community infrastructure challenges: What programs, services, or people are they unable to serve due to existing infrastructure challenges? 〰 Testing high level priorities in community infrastructure planning: Council is exploring ways it can provide facilities and infrastructure to more of its community through multipurpose and shared facilities, and programming spaces. What an invigorating morning it was at the #Edcon conference! Our team had the honor of joining forces with the insightful Brett Waller and the dedicated members of the Seattle Police Department for a panel discussion on a cause dear to us all: Community Safety. In our conversation, we delved into ways to enhance the safety of our residential communities. We discussed a range of strategies, brought our collective knowledge to the table, and concentrated on the newest methods, technologies, and resources. Our aim was to bolster neighborhood safety, working hand in hand with community partners and leveraging available resources. However, this is merely the beginning of a much larger conversation. We believe in the power of community and collective wisdom. So, we're curious: What are your best tips for fostering safety in multifamily communities? Share your strategies and experiences below. So often we hear conversations about “density” and adding density. To me, the biggest challenge is applying these ideas to areas outside of urban cores. I sat next to a gentleman this weekend who made the point of “proximity” and how proximity is really the driver for blending this conversation between urban/suburb/rural. The “one-mile-radius” is a great example of this proximity and how ALL communities can think about proximity and how we crave it. That proximity will be different from the urban core vs Main Street USA, but it is important recognize that these proximities exist in all type of communities.

City of Salisbury, Maryland is pleased to announce a collaborative effort with the ESRGC to conduct a comprehensive housing quality study. Utilizing ESRI’s Survey 123 and Field Maps applications, the ESRGC will oversee the deployment of student interns to conduct approximately 11,481 field surveys across the City. The primary objective of this housing study, commencing on June 1, 2024, is to collect housing quality information crucial for informed decision-making. The study aims to replicate the housing study conducted in 2018 to produce comparison-capable data. This information will be invaluable for making decisions about priority remediation, potential solutions, and neighborhood comparisons of disrepair. https://lnkd.in/d3GfSrWm

This video tells the story of Ruo Emoh (Our Home) a housing project I was priveledged enough to work on in 2016. The momentum continues in Prince George’s downtown civic core. The new Canfor Leisure pool is in place, the old fire hall and old pool properties now devoid of those buildings providing an opportunity to imagine what uses should go there. There is the aging Coliseum, and other city owned arts buildings nearing the end of the useful service life. So many amenities in this area with new housing and investment all around, time to get planning on what our community sees happening in this location.
