A question for my local network: Where should one go to bring on 3 temporary workers (for ~ 1 year) who have STRONG auto-mechanic/technician backgrounds, e.g. disassembling and reassembling complex pumps?

Sr. Recruiter - I build the teams that build the satellites. Recruiting Truth Teller & Mythbuster. Somehow, LinkedIn Top Voice 2022
Friends I promise you if and when the time comes that Sherman the Bot takes over for me I'll tell you EXACTLY what he's doing in the ATS. Until then, I'm going to tell you EXACTLY what *I'm* doing in the ATS when I review your incoming applications. Typically roles are assigned to recruiters like me and we are responsible for managing both inbound applicants AND outbound sourcing / find people who fit this role. Let's use this job here as an example - I'm recruiting for an Assembly Technician on 2nd shift. Since we are bound by export control requirements, I use a US Person knockout question on my applications. (clearly spelled out in our job descriptions FYI) So that MAY reduce my number of applications. On to the rest! Assuming it's a manageable number, I will quickly eyeball the resumes in the order received. I'm looking for specific things from the BQs - manufacturing experience, electro/mechanical (or variations of) experience, and hands on tools experience. But wait, I got eleventy billion applications!! WHAT TO DO!?? In THAT case, I will probably do a Boolean string search. It might look something like this: (manufacturing OR mfg) AND (electric OR mechanical OR integration). These are specific terms called out in the Basic Qualifications which as you know are non-negotiable. VERY SIMPLE. I'm screening folks IN as best I can. The goal here is to provide fair consideration for ALL applicants while making sure my hiring managers get visibility into the prospective new hires that actually fit what they're looking for. Once we've done the initial resume screen we're going to contact you to confirm a few other things like pay (in the JD!), shift availability, and overall interest fit. It's that simple y'all. No magic algorithms, no bots, just maybe a good old fashioned Boolean and some legally approved knockouts. 🤷♀️ Check out the role here and share it with your aerospace friends 🛰 https://lnkd.in/gnQ5ACHS #Recruiting #RecruiterLife #ManufacturingJobs #AssemblyJobs #SpaceJobs

As a maintenance personnel, it is important to know and understand the basic principles behind mechanical components to be successful in the field. Doing so will not only improve your results, but will make work easier for you. Also, having that basic understanding of mechanical components will help you articulate about mechanical components effectively, when training others and during interviews. Talking about articulating your experience with mechanical components, you can: 1. Provide specific examples of projects or tasks where you applied your knowledge of mechanical components. 2. Highlight any relevant certifications, training, or hands-on experience you have with different types of components. 3. Use clear and concise language to describe your ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems. 4. Share any notable achievements or challenges you've encountered while working with mechanical components. 5. Demonstrate your understanding of how different components interact within a system and how you've used this knowledge to improve processes or solve problems.

Dear Recruiters you are always searching for Mechanical Engineers to Manage Heavy/ Earthmoving Equipment but the fact remains that Mechanics understand equipment better as they have or had more practical exposure on these products. A Mechanic with business acumen will be able manage and plan equipment better than Mechanical Engineers. We also understand repair timeline better than engineers. During my years of experience, I proven many engineers wrong. Leave Maintenance Engineering to Mechanics. Just because we are artisans doesnt mean we must be undermined by Mechanical Engineers who claim to have a higher level of education and yet we can deliver better results. Whatever is in theory, isn’t always in practical.
