CEO & Founder of Belongly, helping mental health providers be more successful | Entrepreneur, Psychologist, & Public Speaker
“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” I Love that quote from Carl Rogers, the founder of client-centered therapy. Listening with empathy is truly powerful and provides so much benefit in therapy and in everyday life. Nice job by the Belongly team with this article expanding on this topic. Reviving Your Body with Trio Rehab’s Dry Needling Therapy 😊 Physical therapy has evolved, and Trio Rehab is at the forefront of pain management treatments with Dry Needling therapy. This innovative treatment is performed by trained physical therapists who use a “dry needle” to treat underlying trigger points that cause muscle spasms and tightness. Dry needling is a widely accepted medical treatment by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) that has been proven effective in the management of various medical and musculoskeletal conditions. What is Dry Needling Therapy❓ Our physical therapists generally use trigger point dry needling, a process that involves the use of a thin monofilament needle designed to penetrate the skin and treat underlying muscular trigger points. This process involves disrupting tightened muscle tissue areas (taut bands) with a dry needle to inactivate trigger points, reduce pain, and restore function. Benefits of Dry Needling 😎 Dry needling therapy not only targets pain but has the added benefit of relaxing the muscles, boosting blood flow, diminishing inflammation, triggering the body’s healing response, and improving nerve communication to release natural pain relievers. “Our dry needling therapy approach is holistic and forms part of an overall treatment plan that includes manual therapy, supportive exercises, and education. Once we have determined that Dry Needling is an effective solution for pain management, we will discuss the unique plan for the patient,” says Stephanie Compean, Physical Therapist at Trio Rehab. Who Can Benefit from Dry Needling Therapy? 🌞 This therapy is appropriate for individuals with various medical and musculoskeletal conditions such as joint problems, disk problems, tendinitis, migraine and tension-type headaches, repetitive motion disorders (like carpal tunnel syndrome), spinal pain, pelvic pain, and more. It’s important to note that although Dry Needling therapy is accepted by the APTA, it is not federally regulated. It’s governed by individual state laws, and it’s essential to seek professional advice before opting for treatment. Who Should Not Consider Dry Needling Therapy? 😅 Although dry needling therapy is a growing and effective treatment for managing pain, it’s not for everyone. Individuals diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, taking blood thinners, prone to infections, or having an extreme needle phobia should not consider this therapy. Revive Your Body with Trio Rehab 🤗 Don’t live in pain. Contact Trio Rehab and speak to one of our physical therapists to see if Dry Needling therapy is appropriate for you. We offer comprehensive and customized treatment programs that will help you restore function, reduce pain, and improve your quality of life. https://lnkd.in/gTy76CNA

Check out our infographic on how physical therapy can help address frailty syndrome: https://lnkd.in/gRS4aBqK Frailty is a common syndrome among older adults that involves loss of muscle strength, exhaustion, low levels of physical activity, and an increased risk of falling. Inactivity and the subsequent sarcopenia, or a decrease in the amount and quality of muscle, is a major cause of frailty in older adults. Physical therapy can play a critical role in helping those with frailty restore overall mobility, strength, and aerobic capacity through a customized therapeutic exercise, strengthening, and balance training program.

Making therapy affordable: Usefulness vs. Affordablity One of the unique aspects of being a therapist is our constant requirement to educate people about the need for our help. It is a tricky one- If I were Tom, I would be going around and telling people, "You see, I am Tom, I am a psychologist, and my service is essential." Once people are relatively aware of the importance of therapy, there comes the second round of challenges - we need to make them realize the financial part of therapy. It often takes more work to make people accept the charges than it takes to help them understand that therapy is essential. And invariably, we have to do it. Therapy is a service. It is a job too. And we need to get paid. Understandably, one way to do this is by educating the masses about the benefits of therapy. Another is by sharing with them the efforts it takes to become and to remain a therapist. But let's be mindful about how we go about it. Remember, we must not conflate between affordability and usefulness of something. Therapy is effective. With a "good therapist," therapy would give you good returns for the investment you make. For each rupee you spend in therapy, you get a manifold in return. After all, money was valued because it can make life better. And therapy does that! But let's be clear: Therapy is NOT affordable- at least not for the majority. Saying that therapy is affordable is wrong. Therapy is useful and effective. Specifically, the term to be used is "cost-effective." It is like a major surgery. We don't say that it is affordable because it is life-saving. We say it is darn costly, but it can save lives. Telling a society, where the majority is struggling to make ends meet, therapy is affordable because it is beneficial can be unwise. Let's be clear Therapy is cost-effective. But very costly for most people.
