Some interesting statistics on the trends of digitalization in financial services - as published in the speech from EBA Chair José Manuel Campa - Approximately half of the banks in the European Union, serving both corporate and retail customers, have stated that the majority of their customers (ranging from 75% to 100%) primarily use digital channels for their daily banking activities. - More than 70% of EU banks are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in various areas of their operations, and they are also increasing their use of chatbots to enhance customer service and support. - Around 65% of EU banks have formed partnerships with BigTech firms, primarily with the aim of facilitating the distribution of financial services and other related offerings. These statistics highlight the growing reliance on digital channels, the integration of AI technologies, and the collaborative efforts between banks and BigTech firms in the financial services industry.
