Being clear about equity gives focus and meaning to community engagement. ⭐ Build Employee Competency in Equity and Impact: do you have ongoing education on core equity concepts and how they show up in volunteering? This baseline knowledge helps employees at all levels begin to recognize where inequities exist in a community context and how they show up in CSR activities. ⭐ Design Transformative Volunteering Opportunities to Advance Equity: are you implementing the Transformative Approach in your program? A few tactics of the Approach help create space for equity throughout your program. ⭐ Continue Your Equity Journey: is equity integrated into your program? What does "doing good" in business mean? When I asked people this question, the things said are usually volunteering, contributing to the community, preserving the environment, or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). And indeed, all the things mentioned are part of doing good in  business, but there is much more to it. Doing good is first a perception, that believes organizations and  businesses should have 3 bottom lines, the 3 p’s-  People, Plant, Profit. There's too much at stake for companies to back away from their social impact goals. Instead, we call for companies to deepen their programs' impact: - Can your corporate philanthropy be more nonprofit-centric? - Can your volunteer programs focus on impact rather than outputs? - Can your disaster relief efforts center on communities often left behind by national or global efforts? - Can you use your real estate for social good? - Can you use your communications channels to activate your customers to be better citizens of the world? - Can you shine more light on historically marginalized communities in your corporate philanthropy?
