We're looking forward to Thursday's CECP & Philanthropy New York's Service for Impact roundtable on Creating Volunteer Opportunities that Advance Social Impact Strategies. Taproot's Advisory Services Director, David Kaiser-Jones, will be on hand to discuss insights we've discovered over 20 years of creating skilled volunteer programs with corporate partners around the globe. The discussion will also explore how to center equity in program design, the benefits of leveraging employees' specialized skills for impactful volunteer projects and more. Hope to see you there! https://bit.ly/3VDUl4H #skillsbasedvolunteering #CSR #employeeengagement #socialimpact

Need a little supporting getting clear on equity in your corporate Social Impact program? We're here to help. 🤝 Here are four steps you can take toward equity in corporate Social Impact: ⭐ Bring Equity into Corporate Social Impact Mission Statements: is equity an explicit part of your company’s Social Impact mission? Being clear about equity gives focus and meaning to community engagement. ⭐ Build Employee Competency in Equity and Impact: do you have ongoing education on core equity concepts and how they show up in volunteering? This baseline knowledge helps employees at all levels begin to recognize where inequities exist in a community context and how they show up in CSR activities. ⭐ Design Transformative Volunteering Opportunities to Advance Equity: are you implementing the Transformative Approach in your program? A few tactics of the Approach help create space for equity throughout your program. ⭐ Continue Your Equity Journey: is equity integrated into your program? It's an ever-evolving practice that looks different at every organization, but movement on multiple fronts shows you are progressing, even as challenges and questions remain. What does "doing good" in business mean? When I asked people this question, the things said are usually volunteering, contributing to the community, preserving the environment, or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). And indeed, all the things mentioned are part of doing good in business, but there is much more to it. Doing good is first a perception, that believes organizations and businesses should have 3 bottom lines, the 3 p’s- People, Plant, Profit. Are you participating in #GivingTuesday this year? Be sure to share your goals before and your achievements after with your audience. Show them how supporting your brand helps you support others, and the impact you've made together. Our 2022 Eco Pulse data shows why this matters: 64% of U.S. consumers say a company's nonprofit partnerships and involvement in social issues has a moderate or even strong impact on their purchase intent. #socialactivism #ESG

There's too much at stake for companies to back away from their social impact goals. Instead, we call for companies to deepen their programs' impact: - Can your corporate philanthropy be more nonprofit-centric? - Can your volunteer programs focus on impact rather than outputs? - Can your disaster relief efforts center on communities often left behind by national or global efforts? - Can you use your real estate for social good? - Can you use your communications channels to activate your customers to be better citizens of the world? - Can you shine more light on historically marginalized communities in your corporate philanthropy?
