I'm looking for board members for our nonprofit organization and volunteers. Mission:  To provide a respite space for women with or without children who may be experiencing homelessness, a life crisis, or formerly incarcerated by designing an immediate temporary housing program for up to 60 days. Vision: Succoring women to vanquish unshelteredness and life crises by edifying self sufficiency and obtaining permanent housing. Purpose: As a 501C3 Non-Profit Organization, we are solely dedicated to assisting single women and/or families who are seeking support. Our staff and volunteers will provide assistance in obtaining permanent housing, employment seeking, transportation, licenses and legal documents all while providing a safe environment for the clients. Outreach programs, resources, and spiritual guidance are key components that are designed for the women and children, if needed.  Our purpose is to reduce homelessness. 

Today we welcomed TWO new board members at Homes of Hope. We also welcomed Chynna Phillips, MPH, MSW with Sisters of Charity Foundation to inform us about how advocating, servant leadership, community driven initiatives, research, and actionable steps integrate with their grant funding practices. Today’s takeaways: 1.) Our work sometimes calls us to be strategic agitators. 2.) Health and having a home are directly correlated. 3.) Our community grant funders are committed to systemic change. 4.) Eviction is a significant threat to SC families. N Charleston, SC led the nation in evictions. Greenville, SC saw 1400 filed evictions in July alone. 5.) Everyone can make an impact on poverty and affordable housing needs in their community. 2 years ago today the Sanctuary opened. 2 years on, and we're still the only women's-only homelessness centre that's open all year round - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We've welcomed over 1000 women, provided 10,000 individual activity sessions, and nearly 3000 emergency bed nights, but there's a story behind each of these numbers. Each of the 1000 women, whether they were with us for one night or have been coming to the Sanctuary for years, will have a journey. We couldn't and wouldn't want to share every single story as they're not ours to tell, but we will leave you with a simple quote from one of our ex-residents who now lives in independent accommodation and works supporting other women to overcome homelessness: "Homelessness is only temporary. Going through challenges can give you strength - don't let anybody tell you no. There is no ‘no’ in this world." Thank you to each and every one of these 1000 women, and to each and every staff member for making the Sanctuary what it is today. 🚨Exciting news. Thomas For Them Inc will soon be adding Ink Fingerprinting actions for both Homeless & Children. When something happens to someone living on the street, they’re not identified right away. Most are considered John & Jane Doe’s. To get these individuals access to fingerprinting and to have on file for the Local police department and FBI will make being recognized easier. Children: We are all aware of children being runaways, human traffickers, lost, missing etc. Considering children under 18 years of age not being in the system. Having your children fingerprints on file for personal use in case it’s needed to help find a child is crucial. So many cases where children are missing it could go along way. We will be introducing this service soon and it is FREE, done by a Fingerprint tech.
