Back in December, the first phase of the PACT Participation Active des Citoyennes et citoyens Tunisiens project (2020-2023) had its official closing ceremony, while at the same time launching the second phase (2023-2027)! 👏🏽 The ceremony featured speeches by Mr. Habib Khelifi, President of the General Authority for Foresight and Accompaniment of the Decentralization Process (IPAPD); Mr. Fabrizio Poretti, Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation; Ms. Tine Breinholt, Project Director at NIRAS; Mr. Rasmus Klitgaard, NIRAS representative; Ms. Eve Konan, Programme Officer at the Hirondelle Foundation; Ms. Jalila Boukari, Project Team Leader; and many local and international partners. 🎤 Among other discussions, this milestone event put the spotlight on the community projects which the first phase of PACT has facilitated across seven municipalities in the Hautes Steppes region — Krib, Bouarada, Nebeur, Bouzguem, Chraa Machreq Shams, Sisseb Dhriaat and Regueb. 👩🏽🤝🧑🏽 These community projects have left a lasting impact and enabled the achievement of dynamic, participatory communities. In its second phase, PACT aims to further enhance community ties across twelve local communities within six governorates of the same region, namely Kef, Siliana, Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid, Kairouan and Gafsa. 💡 To receive regular updates about PACT, follow their LinkedIn page! Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Specialist, Convener SHEvaluators, Sec Gen Nigerian Association of Evaluators,
#2023in12Posts #July2023 In July 2023, I conducted a Post-Distribution Impact Assessment of Dignity Kits distributed to Gender-Based Violence (#gbv) survivors and at-risk vulnerable community women and girls in #Damaturu and #Yusufari LGAs of Yobe state. The project had been implemented by AFRYDEV with funding from the Nigerian Humanitarian Fund. Through the assessment I and my team evaluated the satisfaction of beneficiaries with the distributed items, appropriateness of distributed items, effectiveness of the distribution process, identified challenges and made recommendations for improvements in future interventions. Same July, I facilitated The NGO Expert Dialogue Webinar Series that was organized by the Nigeria INGO Forum under the Promoting Local Response Capacity and Partnership (PLRCAP NGOHUB) for their partners in Nigeria. As an ardent systems thinker, I spoke on “NGO System Thinking: Data and Strategic Direction”. If you do not yet know this series and are drawn toward localization, you should check out and be a part of the work that the PLRCAP team are doing at https://lnkd.in/dEb2iQYG Meanwhile, here’s a snippet of what I shared at the webinar: Why Systems thinking? ⚙ 💭 📢 “Nothing is separate. Everything is connected” 🕸 🖇 💭 🔊 "Data-driven decision-making lies at the heart of NGO System Thinking, enabling organizations to make informed choices based on reliable evidence." NGO System Thinking plays a vital role in data-driven decision-making for strategic direction within NGOs. It is an approach that recognizes the interconnectedness and complexity of NGOs and their operating environments. By incorporating system thinking principles into their processes, NGOs can better understand the dynamics, interdependencies, and feedback loops that shape their work. One key aspect of NGO System Thinking is the integration of data-driven decision-making. Data serves as a critical input for understanding the context, identifying needs, and measuring progress towards desired outcomes. By leveraging data, NGOs can make informed choices based on reliable evidence and insights.

Did you know that Plan International Uganda’s country strategy highlights the importance of scaling up humanitarian work and working with local partners? @PlanUganda, One of the principles of building better partnerships is promoting equitable partnerships which C4C is well placed to promote as it provides a safe space for authentic storytelling between INGOs and LNGOs aimed at addressing harmful stereotypes about local partners and influencing mindset change. #Lango Humanitarian Platform @CAREUganda @OxfaminUganda @HealthRight @CDFUUG @Charter4Change

It is no longer news that the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is bent on making sure that all his appointees deliver on their responsibilities with high levels of credibility. To further prove his point, he has gone ahead to suspend Betta Edu, the minister for humanitarian affairs. As government officials or aspiring politicians, we must learn from other people’s mistakes to avoid failure and disgrace. Let me ask you a question, what if we had woken up this morning to watch video documentaries on AIT, Channels and Arise news about how Betta Edu spent the 585 million naira she was accused of diverting, starting from the desk phase, showing meetings, arrangements, selection process, travel to the states, distribution, thank you messages from beneficiaries and success story of the entire intervention. Would you still think she stole the money after the evidence-based documentary? Well, your answer is as good as mine. Documenting video evidence of project implementation is crucial for several reasons. These videos serve as a powerful tool for capturing the impact of the programs, raising awareness, and promoting accountability. Here are some key reasons why it is important to document video evidence of all your program implementations: Visual Representation: Video documentation provides a visual representation of the implementation in action. It allows viewers to see the real-life impact of the programs on individuals, families, and the community as a whole. This visual evidence is often more compelling and emotive than written reports or statistics, making it an effective way to convey the success and challenges of the programs. Storytelling: Videos have the power to tell stories and humanize the impact of programs. They can feature personal narratives, interviews, and testimonials from program participants, showcasing the human side of the initiatives. These stories can inspire empathy, understanding, and support from a wider audience. Monitoring and Evaluation: Video documentation serves as a valuable tool for monitoring and evaluating the progress of programs. It allows program managers, government officials, and citizens to visually assess the effectiveness of the programs, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions based on real-time evidence. Transparency and Accountability: Video evidence promotes transparency and accountability in program implementation. It provides a clear record of the activities, outcomes, and challenges faced during program implementation, ensuring that stakeholders and citizens are informed and accountable for their roles in the process. https://lnkd.in/dV-nNvxJ
