It confirms the clear regulatory path that designates fusion as separate from fission set by regulators last year, and promotes the safety of fusion devices. One year after publishing the world’s first measurements of a magnetically confined hydrogen-boron fusion plasma, TAE and Japan’s National Institute for Fusion Science have completed another round of successful joint p-B11 experiments 🎉 Hydrogen-boron, or p-B11, is the cleanest, safest and most sustainable fuel choice available for fusion. By testing this fuel source with NIFS' Large Helical Device, TAE can optimize its technology and accelerate delivery of hydrogen-boron fusion to the world. For this month’s experiments, TAE’s Chief Science Officer Toshiki Tajima and VP of Program Management and Science Fellow Hiroshi Gota traveled to Japan to work side by side with the NIFS team, including NIFS’ Director General, Professor Zensho Yoshida, and NIFS’ Executive Director of the LHD Project, Professor Masaki Osakabe, pictured above.
