I spent Rs. 15 lakhs in 4 days. But not on myself - for a 4 day Goa retreat with my team. And it was so worth it. When I started building my agency NB Media, my biggest challenge was finding the right talent and building my team. Initially, I was trying to get as much productivity out of them as possible. Over time, I learnt how to be a better leader, got to know my team, and starting treating team members as investments rather than just as employees. But there is only so much you can do when you work remotely. So when I got the opportunity (and the budget) 4 months ago, I gathered all my team members and we headed to the beaches of Goa. Despite the high cost, the trip was really worth it. Here’s why: 1. Some of my team members were working with us for 2 years but we had never met. So the trip was a great ice breaker to get to know each other. 2. I shared my mission and we planned our growth for the next 5 years. This made them feel more involved, creating more trust and ownership. 3. We bonded over games, visited beaches and ate delicious Goan cuisine together. This helped us build great memories with each other. 4. Generally, our conversations were work centric, but this gave us a chance to share our stories and form strong emotional bonds with each other. 5. We planned a few initiatives to help each team member earn up to Rs. 5 lakh monthly income. 6. It boosted our morale and gave us clarity about where we want to take the business. As a result, we were more focused and dedicated after the trip. Seeing our entire team out of the rectangular windows we’re normally restricted to was the highlight for me. It just made me realise - “Damn, all this is happening for real.” I honestly loved spending time with my team and we’ve decided to invest more in such team building activities in the coming months. There’s something magical about a city in the early hours. Bangalore, which is otherwise synonymous with its bustling traffic and busy streets, transforms completely at dawn. The narrow lanes that usually overflow with people and vehicles lie calm and empty. As the city breathes in the crisp, cool morning air, it feels calm and alive. While riding through these deserted streets, I discovered hidden corners and peaceful pockets in bustling areas that I never knew existed, despite having lived here for nearly two decades. There’s something deeply rewarding about pedaling through Bangalore’s quiet streets before the world fully awakens. Not only do you get good workout, but you get the opportunity to explore the city at a slower pace, more deliberately.A morning like this lets you notice things you'd otherwise miss: the soft light, stray sounds, the freshness of the air. As the hours pass, the calm gradually gives way to the familiar buzz of city life. Traffic builds, honking fills the air, and morning peace slowly fades.
