A recruiter recently asked me a question that I have heard several times before but never really put a thought to it, so I was not sure on what the correct answer was. He said, 'Would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond?' I didn't even know if there was a correct answer to the question. Can I give you some advice? You really shouldn’t put all that stuff about your team on LinkedIn, one of my friends told me once. Why not? Well, what if a recruiter poaches them? It was a pice of advice I didn’t take. And here’s why: If I can help land someone in their next dream job, I would consider that a great success. Our job is to help people reach their potential, and to go as far as they can. Sometimes that will take them outside our team, outside our company, or even outside our industry. That’s not a loss.
