#Partnerships 🤝 | In a significant stride towards sustainable agriculture and food security in Nigeria, several Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been linked up with 11 innovative agri-businesses in the Netherlands to boost the sector during the Horti Fair held in Ogun State last week. The fair emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange. Through workshops and networking sessions, participants honed their skills and explored opportunities for growth and partnership. It not only showcased innovative products but also provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and relationship-building. Supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the five-year HortiNigeria Program is led by a number of organizations such as the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation, KIT Royal Tropical Institute, and Wageningen University & Research. In a world where challenges are as interconnected as they are vast, a systems-based theory of change isn't just beneficial—it's imperative. Drawing from my recent experience in leading a system mapping workshop, aimed at collaboratively forging a roadmap for WorldFish innovation with a focus on developing and scaling integrated multitrophic aquaculture in Nigeria, several key lessons have emerged: 🔍 Systems mapping enabled us to decipher this complexity, offering a bird's eye view of how factors interlink and influence each other. This clarity is instrumental in crafting and adapting innovations that are both effective and sustainable. #Complexity Made Comprehensible. 💡 By dissecting the vast networks of cause and effect in small-scale costal aquaculture systems, systems mapping is guiding us to discover leverage points within sub-Sahara African contexts—areas where targeted actions can lead to significant, system-wide changes. 🌊 Our work has underscored the profound interconnectedness of different levels of food systems. An intervention in one level of the system can ripple across other food systems level in unexpected ways. 🤝 The most striking lesson has been the power of collaborative innovation. Amplifying community voices is pivotal in navigating the complexities of food systems, leading to more inclusive and impactful solutions. As we continue to leverage systems mapping to navigate complexity and coordinate inclusive innovations, these lessons guide our steps toward a future where food systems transformation is not just sustainable but also equitable and inclusive. The journey is ongoing, and the potential for transformative change is limitless. Let's connect, collaborate, and continue to learn from each other as we unlock the full potential of whole-systems approach in addressing pressing sustainability challenges. 🤝 Very happy to announce we have officially partnered with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on our journey towards sustainable food systems in the Democratic Republic of Congo! 🌱 This initiative, funded by the European Union and Belgium, aims to empower small rural producers to improve their agroecological practices through better access to knowledge, advanced technologies and market opportunities. It also intends to strengthen their resilience to climatic, environmental and socio-economic challenges, while reinforcing food security, nutrition and incomes. In 2024-2028 we will 📍 continue working in Honduras, Brazil, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Indonesia 👩👩👧👧 reach 15,800 smallholder farming families 🌿 reach 5,000 youth keep supporting the participants of our projects in: 💯 improving their livelihoods 💵 increasing the competitiveness of farmer organizations 🌽 applying farm diversification strategies 🌱 implementing regenerative agriculture and agroforestry. To accomplish this, all seven ICP shareholders committed to this new 5-year strategy: Delta Cafés, Franck , Joh. Johannson Kaffe, Lavazza Group, Löfbergs, Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), Tchibo. Furthermore, we are cooperating with Sida and Austrian Development Agency as public partners and The J.M.
