Check out our new research to be presented at #ASCO24! While most researchers are aware that social determinants of health (SDOH) can influence the cancer journey, SDOHs are rarely used in research due to privacy restrictions. We geocoded the data from the Syapse Learning Health Network, and evaluated the influence of five SDOHs on stage at diagnosis in breast, bladder, and non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC). To learn more about our findings, stop by the poster presentation on Monday, June 3rd from 9-12pm, or visit our booth #15157! On this US National women’s checkup day, let's highlight the importance of screenings for women's health. Regular screenings are crucial for early detection and reducing health risks. Did you know? Lung cancer is now the leading cause of cancer-related death among women in the US. Multiple trials show the benefits of lung cancer screening, especially for women (1). Median & eyonis™ team are proud to support early lung cancer diagnosis with the development of our SaMD, supporting radiologists & healthcare professionals in medical images interpretation. Let's prioritize our health every day. #WomensCheckupDay #TakeTimeToCare #Median #eyonis #LungCancer Ref 1DOI: 10.1016/j.athoracsur.2021.09.060

As part of CCA Awareness Month, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation has launched a new tagline: Strength in Community, Hope in Research. I want to share with you all a little more about what this means to us. Strength in Community: This emphasizes the power of collective support and action. Cholangiocarcinoma, being a rare and challenging cancer, can often leave patients and their families feeling isolated. The community aspect highlights the Foundation's role in bringing together patients, families, doctors, and researchers to share experiences, knowledge, and support. Hope in Research: Cholangiocarcinoma, like many cancers, requires ongoing research to develop better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. This acknowledges the critical role of research and the hope it brings. Investing in research is not just about the present; it's about shaping a future where cholangiocarcinoma can be effectively treated or cured. The Foundation is focused on the next breakthrough in medical science, offering hope to patients worldwide. #curecca #stengthincommunity #hopeinresearch #ccahope #cholangiocarcinoma

📄 New #OpenAccess research published in the International Journal of Cancer has examined the overweight years and obesity-cancer risk. Researchers from The Univeristy of Manchester and Johns Hopkins University found that using a single time-point measure of body mass index (BMI) was generally superior to an overweight-years metric which takes into consideration the duration someone is overweight. However, the team found that the duration and degree of which someone is overweight was associated with obesity-related cancers and so should be considered in cancer prevention. Analysis published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute provides strong evidence revealing the health benefits of activity for cancer patients and survivors. Women with breast cancer who exercise regularly before treatment and in the years following may live longer and are less likely to experience recurrence, suggests a recent study. The study also suggests inactive patients who become even moderately active after treatment can also have survival benefits. Researchers found that the patients who met the minimum Physical Activity Guidelines both before diagnosis and after treatment had more than a 50% reduced risk of recurrence and mortality compared to those not meeting the guidelines.
