Korpskommandant Michaud, Chef Kommando Operationen, besuchte während drei Tagen die Schweizer Armeeangehörigen der SWISSCOY, die im Rahmen der Kosovo Force (KFOR) im Einsatz stehen. Anschliessend begab er sich zu den Kadern sowie den Soldatinnen und Soldaten, welche in der European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnien und Herzegowina Dienst leisten. Begleitet wurde er von Ständerat Thierry Burkart (AG).
Er nutzte den Truppenbesuch, um die aktuellsten Informationen über die Sicherheitslage in den Einsatzgebieten sowie über die verschiedenen Elemente zu erhalten, die derzeit im Einsatz sind. Zudem begab sich Korpskommandant Michaud zur Truppe an ihren verschiedenen Standorten. Hier konnte er sich vom Mehrwert überzeugen, den die Auslandseinsätze für die Entwicklung der Fähigkeiten und des Know-hows der Schweizer Armee generieren. Zusätzlich konnte er Gespräche mit den Schweizer Botschaftern im Kosovo und in Bosnien und Herzegowina sowie mit dem Kommandanten der KFOR und dem Stabschef der EUFOR führen.
In seinen Ansprachen an die Truppen anlässlich des Nationalfeiertags ehrte Korpskommandant Michaud die Frauen und Männer, die sich freiwillig für die Einsätze meldeten, und dankte ihnen für ihren wichtigen und solidarischen Beitrag zur Sicherheit und zum Frieden auf dem Balkan und in Europa. Er betonte, dass die anhaltenden Anstrengungen der Angehörigen der KFOR und der EUFOR nach wie vor entscheidende Faktoren für die Stabilität dieser Region seien.
