We were delighted to welcome Aoife from Dublin to join our engineering team at Swinton Technology for a valuable work experience opportunity. During her time with us, Aoife had the chance to delve into areas beyond the scope of her regular school curriculum. Immersed in our dynamic environment, she engaged in a range of tasks, including pre-power inspection, control panel hardware assessment, and hands-on tasks such as wiring a PLC, and some mechanical fitting. She also gained practical experience in fibre cabling disassembly and testing, contributed to product database management, mastered the setup of logic gates, conducted comprehensive panel and field device testing, and executed functionality assessments. Leonie Coombes was Aoife's mentor during her time at ST, and she says, 'It was a pleasure to work with Aoife during her time with us—she showed great insight and understanding of some complex engineering concepts, and I have every confidence she'll excel at anything she sets her mind to. Hopefully, we will see her in the future as a fully qualified engineer!' Reflecting on her experience, Aoife expressed a newfound enthusiasm for engineering, stating, 'I am now sure of my decision to pursue engineering studies at university.'
