2022/24 was another challenging year for our service. Yet, once again, #TeamNEAS pulled out all the stops to be there for our patients.
Two weeks ago, we took the opportunity to reflect on the last year and look forward to the forthcoming year at our Annual General Meeting.
We’ll be sharing some of those highlights throughout the rest of the week. They include:
📞 Answering more than 1.3 million 999 and 111 calls in our Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) – and opening a new EOC at our base in Wynyard.
🚑 Of those, only 258,141 patients – were transported to hospital, thanks to a huge effort from our clinicians to treat more people over the phone or in their own homes without the need for hospital admission.
🚑 Our Scheduled Care crews also had a vital part to play in supporting our patients by completing 412,609 planned journeys to hospital appointments such as dialysis and chemotherapy, and a further 84,644 unplanned journeys, including hospital discharges.
⏱ We are consistently one of the best performing ambulance services for reaching our sickest patients and compare well against other services for response times generally. We know some patients are still waiting longer than we would like and we are working hard to improve this.
