>>This insightful post by Indraneel Pandit set me thinking. I like the phrases he drew from Start Trek which is one of my favorite TV shows too! >>I think the necessary condition is that one has a sense of purpose. No amount of talent or ability means much unless yoked to a sense of purpose or mission. In fact, those startups that do succeed despite great odds against them, do so because the promoters draw energy from this strong sense of purpose. What is a sense of purpose? It must be something bigger than you or your needs and desires. It must be about other people, the community, the world. In an apocryphal story, the young Steve Jobs is said to have offered John Sculley, then President of Pepsi a job in his startup. When Sculley told him his startup was tiny compared to the job he was presently doing, Jobs famously replied: I'm offering you the difference between selling colored water for the rest of your life and changing the world! >>A mission or vision will never be easy, but the energy to overcome all manner of obstacles will come from the strong sense of purpose. Where such a sense of purpose is absent, people will concede failure much sooner. When there is a sense of purpose, it will take much more than a few setbacks, not matter how serious, to discourage the protagonist. >>In fact, it is that sense of purpose that makes ordinary people perform superhuman feats and achieve great goals in the face of huge obstacles. #purpose #goals #obstacles #life #strength #overcoming #mission #vision Souvik RoyIndraneel Pandit, FRMSanjesh KumarRavi Ranjit, FRMV LakshmananSudarshan SenRamanand MundkurPradip PhanjoubamSabarinathan G
What is the secret ingredient that makes a person great rather than merely good? An intriguing question and one which has supplied countless manufacturers of ink and paper with business over the ages! I happened to watch a Marathi play on the great statesman Chanakya over the weekend. Apart from the truly amazing performances, what really gave me goosebumps is his single minded pursuit to building One Nation, which would have at its core, a single "Prime Directive" - the welfare of its Citizens (borrowing this phrase from Star Trek, one of my super favorite TV Shows). Apart from this single-minded conviction (and most importantly, the conviction to make it happen, against all odds), one other characteristic that most individuals who changed the course of history, is that they deviated from the "established" path and "boldly went where no one had gone before" (Star Trek again!). In my extremely limited scope of knowledge, I haven't been able to identify literally anyone who doesn't fit this description. Views?

What beautiful sentiments about a fulfilling career in aviation.
For one last time… This is your Captain speaking… As we descended into EWR on my final approach, memories of my entire 34-year career floated across the clouds like butterflies. I saw the smiles of millions of happy passengers, thousands of loving reunions, hundreds of safe landings, and the face of my favorite passenger I’ve ever flown with—the one who sacrificed so much for me to get to this moment—my Momma. A close friend and retired pilot advised me to soak it all in and take things slow. Calm as Captains do, my heart began to swell as I saw the water cannon salute and held back what felt like water cannons behind my eyes. Then the wheels kissed the ground—a perfect landing. Now everyone’s asking me, “What’s next?” And I tell them, “This is only just the beginning of what I believe is the best chapter of my life.” I plan to spend my days inspiring young people to follow their dreams by turning them into goals, shattering glass ceilings, and defying all odds. I’ll be calling in my friends from all around the world to share their experiences to empower the next generation of trailblazers who are destined for greatness. If they can see it, they can be it. Today, I may be retired from flying airplanes at United Airlines, but in the words of one of the G.O.A.T.s (Greatest of All Time), Kobe Bryant, “Job’s not finished.” It’s been a pleasure to be your Captain and an absolute honor to fly the friendly skies 🛬 📸 photo credit: Brianna Cabassa

Why Pierre Poilievre Is the Leader Canada Needs Now? Canada needs a strong and principled leader for these challenging times. We require someone who champions fiscal responsibility, individual freedom, and accountability. Our current leader has amassed deficits, implemented tax hikes, expanded government, and jeopardized financial stability. In contrast, Pierre Poilievre is committed to balanced budgets, reduced taxes, and revitalizing Canada's fiscal well-being. Poilievre defends individual freedom, opposing compulsory vaccination, vaccine passports, and lockdowns. Trudeau leans towards state intervention, raising concerns about democracy and citizens' liberties. Poilievre is a principled leader who challenges the status quo, ensures government accountability, and communicates his vision effectively. Trudeau's record reveals inconsistencies and struggles with communication. Poilievre’s deep love for Canada is evident through his reverence for its past, celebration of achievements, and determination to protect sovereignty. He offers a clear blueprint for Canada’s future. In contrast, Trudeau adopts an apologetic stance, undermines values, and lacks a coherent vision. Canada requires a leader who can navigate unique challenges. Pierre Poilievre embodies the qualities needed: principles, vision, skills, experience, and unwavering determination. His clear plan stands in contrast to Trudeau's lack of vision. Canadians must choose wisely. The old picture in this post which was taken many years ago when I visited a friend in California and we visited Hollywood and I got a picture with the Star Trek cast signatures and handprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre reminded me about Star Trek meaning in my life. When I was much younger I enjoyed watching Star Trek whether it was the classic TV show, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, or Voyager. Today I find myself watching watching Discovery, Strange New Worlds, or Picard. My upbringing and values were impacted for the better. I believe that Star Trek taught principles to me such as leadership, tolerance, friendship, loyalty, trust, individuality, and integrity. These principles in Star Trek helped make humanity into a better place to live for all by learning to love oneself. The Bible says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these." Please do your part to learn to love yourself and teach others the importance of loving oneself so we can do our part to make humanity into a better place to live. Live long and prosper.

Living life with an "All or Nothing" mindset is a powerful and bold approach. It involves giving your absolute best and committing fully to your endeavors, whether it's an investment, a business idea, or a personal talent. This philosophy, as defined by the Cambridge dictionary, means either going all in or not doing it at all. While it may seem risky to invest everything into something, embracing this mindset can lead to incredible rewards. Just like pioneers in various fields who dared to venture into uncharted territories, joining WYVERN Ltd can lead to transformative outcomes. With a focus on safety and innovation, WYVERN has established itself as a trusted partner in the industry. Businesses can gain valuable insights and make informed decisions by leveraging our state-of-the-art software and other services. Just a quick thought put to all who strive to achieve...title is not important, don't worry about your title, focus on your role! Does your company value you? Are you participating as a member of a dynamic and high functioning team? What more can we ask for? There are two titles I care about "Dad" and "Pilot in Command (PIC)". Dad is the most important! Captain is what my passengers call me. At work, my preference for title is "Teammate". What do you think?
