ISC’s role in the USEPA and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers or TCTAC program is to support community-based organizations across the US. Our main job as a national TCTAC is to build strong networks between community organizations and support organizations with building their technical skills when applying for federal funding. We provide technical learning at every level of the federal grants process—from identifying funding sources to managing the grant itself. 🌍 Embracing Global Collaboration: My USSD Board Candidacy 🌍 I am announcing my candidacy for the USSD Board of Directors, driven by a commitment to empowering professionals in advancing the sustainable benefits of dams (water and tailings) and levees for our society. At USSD, we envision a world where every dam and levee is not just safe but also deeply valued by the communities they serve. As a candidate, I am dedicated to fostering initiatives that elevate the role of these structures, ensuring they are vital assets that benefit society sustainably. My platform is centered around 1) Dam Safety, 2) DEI, 3) Climate Change, and 4) Emerging Technologies. Great News! This year marks 30 years of collaboration between the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC). Like the CEC’s North American Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) Initiative, the NPRI plays a key role in advancing the development of international PRTR and data sharing. To mark the occasion, the NPRI has developed an interactive timeline presenting key milestones in the program’s history. Here’s an overview: ➡️ 30 years of pollutant release and transfer data. ➡️ Many partnerships and diversified projects. ➡️ Continuous improvement in reporting requirements. In conducting Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) of any project identification of Valuable Environment Component (VEC) with its spatial and temporal boundaries are the most important keys. Once you identify the VEC with its boundaries then the environmental drivers and other activities- external natural and social stressors affecting the VECs need to be determined. These are the main factors that makes CIA different from EIA.
