💡The opportunity for companies to achieve their sustainability goals leveraging #RAINRFID is enormous. However, despite its widespread use across industries, the connection between RAIN RFID and sustainability is still in its infancy. In the recent report Bridging the Gap: Connecting Corporate Sustainability with RAIN RFID the research finds there are multiple potential sustainability use cases for RAIN RFID application: new service models, enabling sorting and recycling through product composition information, improving supply chain traceability, collection of environmental information to track and report on CO2 reduction, etc. 

 In addition, the business case for incorporating RAIN RFID is strong, contributing to company efficiencies along the supply chain, reducing shrinkage at retail, and powering new consumer interactions. The report highlights this is one of those rare opportunities where financial returns and sustainability objectives can run in parallel. Thank you to RFID Journal for showcasing the latest report ‘Bridging the Gap: Connecting Corporate Sustainability with RAIN RFID’ by the RAIN Alliance Sustainability Work Group. 

 The article highlights that despite existing data through traceability and inventory management being collected, the report findings show that many companies aren't yet leveraging #RAINRFID for sustainability. 

 ‘Half of those surveyed had already been using RAIN RFID for five years or more. When all participants were asked what type of sustainability data they are collecting with the technology, the majority said they were collecting none. Instead, supply chain traceability and inventory management are their goals.

 That’s the case even though RAIN RFID technology enables data capture that can help measure sustainability levels as well as to improve those levels through greater supply chain efficiency.' “When we are working with inventory management data this can be an action to unleash new business models based on circularity and use the data to track and improve forecasting to reduce over production and waste in the supply chain,” - Barbara Dunin, co-lead of the RAIN Sustainability Work Group.
