We are celebrating 35 years of GWU-Lasertechnik! In December 1988 GWU-Lasertechnik was officially registered at our local commercial court. In the last 35 years, we came a long way. From the first hour, our valued partner CASTECH INC was at our side. Together, we started the mission to bringing #nonlinear #optics to the European market. Based on Castech’s excellent products, it was subsequent for GWU-Lasertechnik to build #expertise on the applications of nonlinear #crystals. As the results of intensive and focused #research and #engineering, we released the first commercial #OPO based on #BBO worldwide at Laser Munich exhibition in 1989. From this time on, the GWU product line of #tunable #lasers have steadily developed and improved to meet and define increasing demands and standards. Today, we are providing systems for a wide range of applications in #industry and #scientific research. We are also very proud and grateful for our long-lasting and valued partnerships with strong partners, like Spectra-Physics (Ultrafast products) and LUMIBIRD : the specialist in laser technologies (Nanosecond producst), bringing our devices to the #global market. In the last 35 years, GWU-Lasertechnik also continuously improved and expanded its portfolio. Our philosophy is to cooperate with strong partners and technology leaders to provide state-of -the art components, systems, and solutions. Since almost 20 years, we are partner of HC Photonics Corp., the pioneer of #PPLN technology for quasi-phasematching (#QPM). Nearly at the same time, we started a cooperation with NP Photonics, for their single-mode, ultra-robust, #fiberlasers. Lately we included the #spectrometer products and #spectroscopy solutions from Optosky(Xiamen)Photonics Inc. as well as the tunable filters and White-light sources from Spectrolight Inc. to our product range. Due to #competence and superior #service, GWU-Lasertechnik has established a broad base of satisfied customers in the industry as well as in scientific research facilities worldwide. Per the article, it stated, “Compared to SWIR edge-emitter lasers (EELs), SWIR VCSELs have ~60% lower power consumption, and the price of a VCSEL is generally much lower (>50%) than an EEL.” I would have thought the cost savings for VCSELs should be much better than 2X compared to EEL, given they can be made using wafer-level scale fabrication and testing. Am I missing something here?
