Lets be honest the Oakland Athletics would not be in this situation if it wasn't for these so called "other organizations." They unanimously #approved #Vegas without a legitimate plan for #JohnFisher and #DaveKaval. Also, it is not like Fisher has not relied on "revenue sharing," signed their top prospects to long-term deals, or done anything to continue to keep the A's competitive when the franchise started winning. So who has enabled the #Athletics? Those who are now complaining about a team that is willing to play for at minimum in a #minorleagueballpark for three seasons, possibly more while a nonexistent stadium in another state may not even come to fruition. While completing ignoring that the city of #Oakland finally stood ground against the A's. Got nearly $1 billion in funding to build a ballpark at #HowardTerminal. We're not buying what other organizations are saying Buster. Then again it is also sad said person could not put a name to their face for when they said "this makes us all look bad." Sorry but Major League Baseball (MLB) and owners have looked bad for a long time when it comes to the situation regarding Oakland. Funny thing is this all could have been avoided if #MLB had a #legitimateleadership and a #competent #commissioner.

The WNBA recently laid out expansion plans, announcing that the league would be adding a 13th team in the San Francisco area. But where else could we see a new WNBA franchise pop up? 🤔 Toronto might be the most likely option for future WNBA expansion, as the Chicago Sky and the Minnesota Lynx sold out Scotiabank Arena for a preseason game this May—that’s right, a preseason game. Maybe that got Toronto involved with WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert (pictured below) just enough to get the ball rolling on an expansion plan… 😲 Boston could be another possibility. Earlier in October, Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck hinted at a potential WNBA team in Boston, telling Axios he had “heard some rumblings” about expansion into Beantown. The city has seen a lot of women’s sports teams come to town recently, as they're expecting a PWHL team to begin play in 2024 and an National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team in 2026. 😎 And then, on the totally opposite side of the country, we have Portland. The Rose City used to have a WNBA team called the Portland Fire, who played for just three seasons in the early 2000s before folding, but the state continues have one of the country's best basketball atmospheres. The Portland Trail Blazers have a bright future with Scoot Henderson, and the college teams at the University of Oregon and Oregon State University are always competitive in the region. 🔥 But even outside these three cities, there are PLENTY of options that the W could choose. Philadelphia, Nashville, Detroit—the list goes on and on. We can’t wait to see how the league grows! 🏀 😃 Did you enjoy this story and want to get more just like this delivered right to your inbox? Boston Celtics sale: Owner Wyc Grousbeck planning to sell after 2024 National Basketball Association (NBA) title, team valued at nearly $5 billion. The Boston Celtics, valued at $4.7 billion last year, just secured their 18th championship against the Dallas Mavericks. Their owner, Wyc Grousbeck, wants to sell his majority stake in the team. Grousbeck, who led the Boston Basketball Partners, originally purchased the team in 2002. Under his leadership, the team celebrated its first NBA championship in 2008. The Celtics have announced that a sale is expected either by the end of 2024 or early 2025 and Grousbeck will continue as the team's owner until a sale is finalized in 2028. The Celtics, a cornerstone of the NBA, have a rich history and are often considered one of the league's most valuable franchises. In 2023, Forbes valued them at $4.7 billion, placing them fourth in the league's valuation rankings, behind the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers. It's worth noting that Grousbeck purchased the team 22 years ago for a mere $360 million. Now, Grousbeck will join the group of NBA mainstays that have cashed out of the league in a reasonably short span. Soon, Boston will have hefty luxury tax payments coming, and they may limit their flexibility to improve the roster, given the constraints that come with the second apron. Days go slow, years go fast. ⏳✨ One of my first mentors in business shared this wisdom with me at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, right outside where the Celtics recently celebrated their championship parade, becoming the winningest team in NBA history. 🏀🏆 His name was Bill Walsh—not the historic coach of the San Francisco 49ers, the only other team besides the Patriots that can claim dynasty status. 🏈 Bill Walsh mentored Bill Belichick, who famously said, "I never lost a game, I simply ran out of time." ⏰ Whether it's building a dynasty in a sports franchise or creating your own cash flow dynasty for your family, time is an essential factor. ⏱️💼 But time also means preparation. When Drew Bledsoe was sidelined after a massive hit, despite having one of the largest quarterback franchise contracts in the NFL at that time (cash is trash), Tom Brady was ready and eager to step in—he also had time on his side. 🏅 Do you feel like time is on your side? Wherever you are today, now is the best time to get a handle on your portfolio. While many of us in Boston consider Tom Brady to be the eighth wonder of the world, it's actually compounding interest—and time is the secret ingredient to that equation. 📈🔑 #TimeManagement #BusinessWisdom #CashFlowDynasty #BostonMentors #CompoundingInterest #PreparationMeetsOpportunity #DynastyBuilding #TomBrady #BillBelichick #MentorshipMatters #FinancialFreedom #BostonStrong #HynesConventionCenter

Wyc Grousbeck bought the team for $360 million in 2002 and just delivered the franchise’s second championship during his tenure—a league-record 18th title. As the NBA continues to reach new heights, it makes Grousbeck’s entry seem almost clairvoyant. The league is reportedly negotiating a new media rights package that amounts to $76 billion in fees over 11 years, more than double its previous annual rate, while basketball continues expand globally and captivate fans in overseas markets. A recent survey by S&P Global Intelligence reported that 52% of online adults in China watch NBA games, as well as two-thirds of basketball viewers in France and Italy.

Utah sports magnate Ryan Smith is publicly lobbying the NHL to add an expansion franchise in Salt Lake City. With the city's growth trajectory and Smith's extensive sports holdings, there's a compelling argument. - Smith owns the Utah Jazz (NBA) and co-owns Real Salt Lake (MLS) and Utah Royals (NWSL). He proposes building a new arena optimized for hockey. - Salt Lake City hosted 2023 NBA All-Star weekend and will likely get the 2034 Winter Olympics. It's bidding to be a temporary home for MLB's Oakland A's as part of an expansion push. - Utah was the fastest growing U.S. state in the 2020 census, with SLC drawing people in with tech jobs and relatively low costs compared to other big metro regions. - The NHL says it's not focused on expansion now but called SLC "a promising market," and will keep talking to Smith. Between its strong ownership group, winter sports infrastructure, and rapidly expanding population/economy, Salt Lake City checks numerous boxes for NHL expansion.
