Celebrating #NationalDisabilityIndependenceDay today! 🎉 The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in many areas of public life. Creating accessibility is a path to the "E" in DEI = equity. It's not complicated to be fair, but it does require conscious, deliberate, and strategic thinking. As an OD | DEI | HR practitioner, I find that using universal design concepts is one way of driving our world and workplaces to be fair and kind to all people. #equity #fairness #freedom #inclusion #consciousculture #universaldesign #humankindness

Did you know? July is Disability Pride Month. While this is not recognized as a national holiday, July marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) legislation that opened the door to a more inclusive society. For some, Disability Pride Month is recognizing your disability and loving who you are for it; others celebrate the wins in learning to navigate their disability; or some show their support by just listening and elevating disabled voices.
