Taking Action on Microfibers. Mandating the use of advanced filtration systems in wastewater treatment facilities would be the most effective way to significantly lower microfiber pollution in the oceans. These systems can significantly mitigate one of the primary sources of microfiber pollution by capturing microfibers from domestic laundry before they enter waterways. This measure would require collaboration between appliance manufacturers, wastewater treatment facilities, policymakers, and consumers, but given this technology is already in development and shows very promising results, it stands as a practical and impactful solution. This action needs to be driven. The advocacy of Plastic Oceans Australasia and similar organisations are instrumental in moving the dial. Textile Recyclers Australia support these initiatives and look to our research & development to contribute towards these efforts. #plasticoceansaustralasia #fashion #sustainability #esg #microfibers #retail #innovation #polyester Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Sustainability Victoria NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA)

I lead the presentation design agency for enterprise - BrightCarbon. I support a team of presentation experts who tell persuasive stories and do incredible things with PowerPoint, Slides, and Storyline.
BrightCarbon was certified for our 1% for the Planet giving for 2023 last month. That means we donated 1% of our annual revenue (not profit) for last year to environmental causes. We'll do it again in future years too. Our two largest donations were to Cool Earth and Earthjustice - although we also gave to five national and local charities. Our BrightCarbon environment committee suggested organisations we could donate to, and then all employees were given a chance to vote on those choices - with our giving proportionate to the votes received in different categories. I'm not certain, but I hope that involving the entire team makes this feel like everyone's donation - we all worked to make the money, and we all had a say in where it was spent. 1% of our revenue isn't going to be enough to save the planet, obviously. But if more companies did this, more good would be done. At a time when people are looking for meaning in what they do, this makes every project we deliver count for something bigger too. No greenwashing, no navel-gazing, just one small attempt to do some good. P.S. A photo of the northern lights, which I completely missed last week when they were actually visible from my street.

Zignago Vetro’s forest is now even bigger. This year, in fact, we have again decided to renew our donation to Treedom: new trees will be added to Zignago Vetro’s forest, ready to take their place all over the world. There are now 6,515 of them. We have done this for the planet, for the communities that will use them as a source of food and to increase their income, but also for ourselves: contributing to building a better future, through gestures that are tangible and significant, is and always will be our priority. We remind you that Zignago Vetro’s forest can be “explored” virtually, using this link: https://lnkd.in/eCwevk4h #ZignagoVetro #glassproduction #glassindustry #innovation #circulareconomy #Treedom

❓Can I recycle worn-out books? ✅Books that can't be reused can be recycled, but some additional steps may be needed. Paperbacks, phone books, and magazines have water-soluble bindings that dissolve in the paper-making process and can be recycled in your curbside cart as is. Hard-cover books have tough covers and bindings that need to be cut off before the paper can be recycled. Otherwise, you can bring them to the Madison Recycling Center at 2200 Fish Hatchery Rd to be recycled. If your book can still be used, consider donating to your local library, charity, secondhand store, or Little Free Library. Check out answers to common recycling questions and see local guidelines at sustaindane.org/better and on social media #recyclebetter

As Earth Day approaches, it's time to reflect on our planet's beauty and our responsibility to protect it. We are doing our small part to positively impact the environment by pledging funds to Trees That Count a collective and inclusive mission to plant native trees across New Zealand. We’ve also setup a tree registry page on their website, with the aim of donating 2,000 trees (twice the number from 2023), in the lead up to IANZ’s annual conference this year, in August. So, if you’d like to join us in supporting this important cause, head on over to the page before the 21st of August, and give generously – all it costs is $10 to gift a tree and make a difference! Tree registry page: https://lnkd.in/g8q-MeF2 Whether you choose to donate funds, volunteer your time to environmental projects, or spread awareness about the invaluable work of charities such as Trees That Count, your support can make a tangible difference in the fight against environmental degradation. Let's come together this Earth Day and commit to the ongoing movement towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable planet. #EarthDay #EnvironmentalProtection #Sustainability

Why Donating Matters? The varying breakdown times of different materials highlight the environmental impact of discarding everyday items. By donating items instead of throwing them away, we can extend their useful life and reduce the strain on landfills. This simple act of sustainability helps protect our environment and ensures that items continue to serve a purpose rather than becoming waste. Whether it's a book, a piece of clothing, or an old bicycle, donating can make a significant difference. Donate today to Project B Green and be a part of the solution!
