Recently, we wrote a post about the three-word phrase that Apple looks for when interviewing candidates: the ability to say, “I don’t know.” From a professional angle, it shows that you are a lifelong learner and smart enough to know that you can’t know it all. This Inc. Magazine article points out that “I don’t know” is also an emotionally intelligent phrase we should remember when interacting with others. It’s a great way to remind yourself that you can never fully understand what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes, so practicing empathy and understanding is essential. When you give others grace and acknowledge that you will never know the full picture of their experiences that factor into their decisions or mood, you are practicing compassion. And that is one of the most important things we can do for one another. #Compassion #Empathy #EmotionalIntelligence https://ow.ly/iaF250PFCp0

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Coach (ICF ACC) & HR Consultant | TEDx Speaker | Author | Podcast Host
I am now hiring a "HR Growth and Innovation Specialist" to support me and growing Wholistic Coachsulting Limited and to revamp our NEXT GEN Study from 2019 to understand what GenZ expect from the workplace, employers and managers. After several interviews, it is apparent that the first question "Tell me more about yourself" is taken too lightly by most of the candidates. This is the time to make a first impactful impression by sharing about your passion, your aspirations and your excitement to join the company/ team. Don't just recite your work experiences which one can see in the resume. 👉🏻 If you want to get more tips on how to prepare for your next interview and stick out for the right reasons, check out the article I wrote after going through the recruitment process with Apple. ✅ If you like this post, share it and I'd appreciate a 👍 and please follow me for updates. #FyiCoach #HumanResources #HR #leadership #coach #coaching #diversity #inclusion #careercoaching #interview #recruitment

Steve Jobs, the iconic co-founder of Apple, remains a beacon of innovative thinking even in the realm of hiring. While the veracity of the term “beer test” remains a subject of debate, the core concept has left an indelible mark on contemporary hiring practices. Jobs’ insistence on gauging personal resonance and genuine connections defied conventional interview standards, introducing a novel dimension to candidate assessment. This unconventional approach continues to shape modern recruitment methodologies by emphasizing the importance of a candidate’s cultural fit and authentic compatibility. #Culturalfitinrecruitment #Jobshiringpractices #Trustinggutfeelingsinhiring

In this time, with the software engineering market getting cold, I think it is important to be transparent and share how do we hire at JOOR and why do we reject many candidates, even at risk of missing awesome candidates. People first. There is no deck, executive or HR department that can shape the right culture without the right people. This is our approach to get this done (or at least try 😅 ) 👇 https://lnkd.in/dNR29xh9
Why was I rejected from my JOOR interview?

Inclusion in the workplace means that no one is left out whether on purpose or unintentional. -Do you make it impossible to apply because your systems are unusable, such as when using equipment like screen readers? Think about that one from a customer perspective too. -Do you require a test that makes it difficult for those with dyslexia to do well? -Do you always ask for employee referrals for open requisitions? -Do you informally require new hires to be from elite institutions? -Do you exclude people because of how they present themselves rather than what they express? -Do you make assumptions about abilities based on what you see? I wonder what hiring would be like if we interviewed/auditioned behind a screen like musicians auditioning for an orchestra. Happy Wednesday!

Google 😍 !! Everyone wants to go to Google, and for many of them, it's their dream job. I also gave an interview with the Google FitBit team in October 2023. There was 5 rounds of interview, one was virtual and other 4 were onsite . Round one (screening round) : One medium level questions. It went well I solved it in 35 minutes. But unfortunately, I was rejected after the screening round without any feedback It's very short rejection story of Google. All the best everyone and good luck in your job search. #jobsearch #rejection #google #interview #newyear2024

Hi folks, if you or anyone you know would like to have some feedback on your resume, just LMK! Perhaps you're in college and applying to a lot of jobs but aren't getting any bites? It could be something to do with your resume! I had to read and review a TON of resumes when I was hiring talent for Apple projects, so I can give a little insight (but I am no expert). I do not charge. Just paying it forward :] #resumetips #resumehelp #resumewriting

I think the content of this article applies to any position you are interviewing for! Focusing too much on your functional skills and not enough on your soft skills are often overlooked by seekers and recruiters, IMO. In this article, Dave Anderson, a former Amazon GM, and Tech Director shares his insights on why attitude matters more than ability. He argues that soft skills, such as enthusiasm, empathy, and feedback, are essential for long-term success and growth in any company. He also gives examples of how to demonstrate these skills in an interview and impress your potential employers. Curios what others think both from the interviewee's and interviewer's perspective. #jobseeker #recruitment #employment #recuiter #employeeexperience #softskills https://lnkd.in/eBM5QAvC
