Introducing the International Education Mark (IEM) by Ireland 🎓🌍 Ireland is taking monumental steps to safeguard international students' interests with the introduction of the International Education Mark (IEM). 🌟 What's IEM? A new statutory quality mark ensuring a consistent and top-notch learning experience for international students. Its goal? To instill global confidence in the Irish education system! 📜 Key Highlights: Voluntary, but necessary for providers catering to non-EU/EEA learners needing immigration permissions. Two distinct codes of practice: HE Code for Higher Education providers. ELE Code for English Language Education providers. Emphasis on ethical marketing, transparent admissions, and robust support for international students. After a comprehensive public consultation, the final documentation has received a nod from QQI’s Board. HE and ELE providers can now refer to these documents for their IEM application in 2024. #InternationalEducation #IEM #QualityAssurance #IrishEducation

Why do we think there is an appetite to buy ELT schools? 🌟 A myriad of very good and solid commercial reasons. Although the broader educational market offers numerous investment opportunities, there is turbulence in global education in face-to-face teaching, but the ELT sector tends to weather these storms better. Many ELT programmes are shorter, more flexible, and can pivot to online formats more readily, maintaining accessibility despite changing immigration policies. This is another challenging situation that will largely spare ELT while impacting other face-to-face teaching sectors, as reported by the ICEF Monitor. Here's a quick global snapshot: 🇦🇺 Australia: With record-high foreign enrolments but tightening immigration policies, the education sector predicts over AUS$300 million in revenue losses for 2024 due to declining visa applications and skyrocketing refusal rates. 🇬🇧 UK: Business schools report a 76% drop in non-EU enrolments for January 2024, especially at postgraduate levels, with many failing to meet their targets. 🇺🇸 US: F-1 visa refusal rates reached record levels in 2023, with more than a quarter million foreign students turned away from studying in the US, costing the economy more than US$7 billion annually. 🇨🇦 Canada: Adjustments in provincial cap numbers could further impact international student enrolments. 🤝 Thinking of Selling Your ELT School? Let's explore opportunities together. 🎉 A huge shoutout to Paul Humphreys and ICEF, for their insights!
