Will you motivate and inspire students on their journey to the Los Angeles Marathon? We are asking SRLA Supporters to write “Motivational Valentines” to our students, encouraging them to keep working hard this SRLA season so they can cross the finish line in March as well as the graduation stage in May. Our goal is 2,900 cards, one for each SRLA student to read before the start of the Los Angeles Marathon. Will you help us reach our goal? Learn more: https://bit.ly/3WptBD9

Knowledge doesn’t always lead to understanding. This is important when discussing unique/neurodiverse students and matching them with the right Advocate. “There’s no one size fits all nor is it like riding a bike approach at Educational Associates & Affiliates(www.edassociates.org)”. This short video explains it all: https://bit.ly/3EXL8vS

Today’s race was a first for me— A first 5k with my son. My wife and I took him and our 2-year-old daughter out for a local fun run. We ended up doing more like 4k, opting to turn around a touch early when the rain resumed. Our goals going in: 1. Keep moving. 2. Have fun. He asked about winning the race. Our message: You win when you run better than you did last time. It’s a lesson I didn’t learn until I was almost 30, and my hope is we can instill it in our kids much earlier. Focus on your effort. Focus on your learning. Focus on what you can control. The outcomes will take care of themselves. Right?

NAME: GERSON MARIA POSITION:OF CLASS:2025Throws: Right Batting: Right Medium build with long arms, broad shoulders, shallow chest, wide back, and medium torso. Lives with an athletic body, lean and wiry. Arms are fibrous but calves thin. Some physical maturity remains for future strength. Compact frame, suitable for the position. Ran 60 yards in 6.8 seconds, demonstrating fast out-of-the-box speed, excellent acceleration, agility, and good speed for his position. Defensively, exhibits sound actions, sure-handed fielding, good lateral movement, quick first step, and agility. Arm angle of 3/4 with a live arm, accurate throws, and proper mechanics. In batting practice, generates bat speed with quick wrists but tends to hit too many fly balls and lunges with a slight uppercut swing. Has the potential for power, especially to the pull side, with the emergence of long balls as he grows in size. Weaknesses include a tendency to pull the ball naturally, too many movements at the plate, and needs to find rhythm and relaxation while batting. Improvement in hitting will make him a better overall athlete.

Run your own race. Just publicly reminding myself as there are probably others who also need the reminder. I hate missing out. I hate watching others get to experience things without me that I REALLY want to experience. I am also not in the place to have as free a calendar as I’d like in order to be free enough to do basically whatever I want. So, let’s say it together, “RUN YOUR OWN RACE!” I’m going to refocus, give thanks, realign with my values, and keep going forward. And so can YOU! P. S. What are your tricks to help you stay focused on your own race?

Importance of teaching and teacher expressed in such simple words !!
I wish our teachers and parents had taught such life lessons to us instead of preparing us for the Corporate Rat race....
