I specialize in helping teachers get clear, qualified and confident to interview and leave the classroom. My goal in 2024 is to help 100 teachers leave the classroom and disrupt the education system.
Standardized testing promotes a one-size fits all type of education. Standardized testing has significant downsides. It encourages memorization and teaches students how to pass a test, rather than promoting real understanding and critical thinking. Plus, standardized tests can make educational inequality worse. Students in less well-off schools might not have the same test prep resources, putting them at a disadvantage. The stress that comes with high-stakes testing is no joke, and these tests do not give the full picture of a student's abilities. One of my favorite podcasts is called “Akimbo” hosted by Seth Godin. He had an episode back in July where he posed the question: “What is school for?” Well if we want kids to lack creativity and never think outside the box, then we are doing school right! However, I think we can all agree, that is not what school should be for. But if that’s not what school is for, then why are we measuring success using standardized tests? No, I am really asking. Department of Education, do better. #departmentofeducation #dobetter #teachers #transitioningteachers #leavingtheclassroom
