work should be done safely, effectively and efficiently
Don't do this when you hire your next maintenance planner... Simon Sinek is often quoted as saying— "You don't hire for skills, you hire for attitude. You can always teach skills." It's a popular quote... But don't listen to Simon when you hire or appoint your (next) maintenance planner. If you do you will live to regret it. Instead, when you hire your next maintenance planner, hire someone who has been a technician and, ideally, has worked on similar equipment and in a similar industrial setting. Planners prepare work for technicians so the work can be executed safely, effectively, and efficiently (i.e. with minimal delays). If you hire someone who has never actually done the job, don't expect them to be able to prepare or plan that job. It just doesn't work. #maintenance #reliability #ReliabilityAcademy

As a small team leader with experience in 33KV/MV substations, one of the biggest challenges we face is working in the basement, which comes with various hazards such as electricity, confined space, low oxygen, sharp edges, low ceiling, tight working areas, and a humid atmosphere. This challenge is also influenced by the age and design of the substation we are working with. To mitigate these challenges and ensure a safe work environment, we have implemented the following actions in addition to approved safety procedures,PPE and High voltage testing : 1- Open all entrance and exit points: ensure all entrance and exit points are open and accessible to facilitate easy evacuation in case of emergencies. 2- Establish suitable storage areas: find safe and suitable locations to store tools, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers before starting work, ensuring quick access when needed. 3- Manage waste storage : establish designated areas for storing waste generated during work to maintain cleanliness and prevent hazards. 4- Assign specific roles : assign specific roles to team members to ensure efficient and safe work execution: A- Main worker and assistants: responsible for main tasks such as maintenance, installation, and dismantling. B- Light Holder: responsible for holding and aiming lights during work to ensure proper visibility. C- Team Watcher: responsible for monitoring the main workers, ensuring they avoid sudden movements, and issuing warnings when necessary. D- Tools Coordinator: responsible for bringing and replacing tools from the designated tool storage area. E- Housekeeping Personnel: responsible for managing waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness during work. F- Team Leader: responsible for supervising the team, ensuring everyone performs their tasks correctly, coordinating with the operating team, scheduling rest periods, and closing operations after completing work. Finally we take these actions combined with approved safety procedures which was created by specialists and professionals based on internationally accredited studies and experiences #ElectricalSupervisor #ElectricalEngineering #ElectricalSafety #PowerDistribution #HighVoltage #MaintenanceManagement #TeamLeadership #SafetyFirst #FacilityManagement #IndustrialElectrical #WorkplaceSafety #EnergyManagement #ConstructionManagement #UtilitiesManagement #OperationsManagement #ElectricalSystems #ProjectManagement #TechnicalSkills #EngineeringManagement #CareerDevelopment

Build your electrical safety DREAM TEAM... Everyone has a different point of view. Here's 4 people you need on your team in order to create and maintain an excellent electrical safety program. #1 An electrician with years of experience... the one who can say "no, that's not how we do it." #2 A supervisor... the one who feels pressure from both sides (day-to-day issues with the crew plus unrealistic expectations from management). #3 A safety manager/coordinator... to ensure things are harmonized with company safety policy and regulations. #4 A department manager or owner... the one who holds the purse strings, because time is not the only investment you'll need to make into electrical safety. Ready to learn more about building your electrical safety program? Check this out: https://buff.ly/44Eix9Y
