The position of Europe Policy & Advocacy Manager at Access Now is truly the best job in Brussels. All the pros: 1. hands down the best team in Brussels. In the policy team it's Caterina Rodelli Chiara Manfredini Daniel Leufer Eliška Pírková but you'll get to be in the same office with other amazing colleagues from all across the organisation and even other NGOs from the space. Hello European Digital Rights! 👋🏻 The regional work has grown a lot but you will still benefit from working together and learning from an amazing international team. In this category it's worth mentioning that being part of RightsCon on the organising side is a special experience. 2. The intellectual freedom of civil society is unique and I did work for both the public and private sector so I know the difference first hand. 3. While it's an NGO it is very mature organisationally and you can trust all the operational work that went into building it out thanks to Nina Komakhidze and others. Let's just say it explicitly too: Access Now's salaries are competitive. 4. Access Now has impact which matters for maintaining motivation. At least in Brussels it's very much part of the inside game but we are recognising and choosing more and more the outside game and ready to challenge the system. 5. The mission at the intersection of human rights and technology gives a very broad and exciting mandate. Future challenges: the organisation has grown a lot and there are lot of necessary and generational and structural changes that can be painful but should lead to something (even) better. As a natural consequence of this growth, there are some issues with messy roles, responsibilities and team structures on the international level. The co-founder executive director Brett Solomon is leaving after 15 years and a new ED will have a great impact on both the internal and external direction of the organisation. Finally, if this is such an amazing job why did I leave? Access Now has been home for almost 8 years and I became hungry for new challenges, new solutions and learning. And I would be lying if I didn't mention that there's not much left in me that believes in the European Union - in it's current form - as an institutional structure for systems change. It is a good time for someone else with new convictions, knowledge, drive and leadership skills to take over this position for the new EU mandate and beyond. I wish you nothing but joy and success and I'm here if anybody has any questions:) Apply!
*JOB ALERT* We're looking for a brilliant, driven and creative individual to come on board as the Europe Policy & Advocacy Manager for Access Now! It is one of the most exciting roles in the intersection of digital tech and human rights policy space in Europe. You'll be leading Access Now's policy work on the continent alongside an absolutely incredible team (Caterina Rodelli Chiara Manfredini Daniel Leufer Eliška Pírková), working with me as a bonus 😀 . You'll also be collaborating closely with some of the brightest minds on digital rights and tech policy globally, in the wider Access Now team and with a large network of partners! Apply and/ please help spread the word. https://lnkd.in/ei7Q2ypt (making the post shareable now!)

Our recruiters are some of the best in the industry, and today, we'd like to introduce you to Kent Hansen, our Director of Recruiting. ◾Why recruiting? I was working for a HIV/AIDS clinic recruiting patients into studies when someone reached out to see if I would like to try Technical Recruiting back in 2005. I tried it out and fell in love with helping people find a new opportunity that would better their future. ◾Favorite/least favorite aspects of recruitment? Favorite part by far is the relationships I have made with not only the people I work with but with the people that I have been able to help find their new home. Least favorite part is telling someone that they are not a fit for a position that they are interested in. ◾What drew you to LufCo? The Trifecta (Andy Lufburrow, Beth Dixon, and Heather Couvillon Lufburrow) and their ambition to really see people and the company grow. I loved that they are looking to diversify the work that we have. ◾How does LufCo stand apart from other organizations? When it comes to Meade, it's Beth. She is one of, if not the best in the industry to work with. When it comes to the other areas, Heather and Andy have a really strong vision for everyone and where the company is going. The leadership is super strong. ◾Fun fact about yourself? I love fun facts! I was born a country boy but I love the city. I'm a CrossFit coach in downtown Baltimore, I play volleyball in a competitive traveling LGBT league, and I love traveling to new places. When I get super excited about things, I will break out a back handspring (I still got it from my college cheerleading days). ◾Anything else? I've been married to my husband Mike for over 10 years and we live between Baltimore City and Lewes Beach, Delaware. Want to chat with Kent about your career goals to see if LufCo is right for you? Check out our open positions at luf.co/careers and reach out to Kent at [email protected]. #lufcoadventure #peoplenotpositions #hiring
