🤔 I have always been a bit torn about the International Women’s Day. It exists to remind us how unequal we still are. And this year, we don’t have much to celebrate. 🆘 Especially not when it comes to business, finance, leadership, ownership and power. Right now things are unfortunately moving in the wrong direction. Dagens Industri (Sweden's largest daily business newspaper) reports today that the number of female CEOs on Nasdaq Stockholm has decreased(!) since last year (from 12.2% to 11.9%), the share of female Chairs in listed companies are only 8% and as we have known for several years now, only 1% of the capital is invested in companies founded by women. ⚠️ This noticeably empty page in today’s Dagens Industri reads ”on this page we were supposed to report on the progress made when it comes to diversity in the leadership of our listed companies” - and on the right corner it says “unfortunately there is nothing to report”. 💡 We seriously need to step this up, fast. And we can! By remembering that the most important job is not done on March 8th, but on all the other 364 days of the year. And by remembering that every man and woman can (and need to) help to make the future better and more equal for the next generation. 🔺 By trying to allocate capital and investments more equal 🔺 By ensuring that nomination committees are diversified, and from them on also boards, CEOs and management teams 🔺 By using purchasing power to influence companies to be more diverse on all levels 🔺 By ensuring we do not only attract, but also retain, diverse talent - especially when they are a minority in the team 🔺 And last but not least, by leading with example 🎯 As with almost everything in business; what gets measured gets done - and companies and employees tend to prioritize what the board and CEO deem important 😘 I hope we can look forward to seeing much more progress in this area ahead of next year! 🥂 Here’s to all men and women that are leading the way to a more equal future! 🥂 And congratulations to the brilliant and innovative Helena Hedblom, CEO of Epiroc, who made the top of this year’s list of the most powerful women in business. Role models are hugely important, and you are one of the more impressive ones out there 🙌🏻🤩 #iwd2024 #diversityandinclusion #diversityintech #femalefounders #femaleentrepreneurs #femaleceo #femaleempowerment #nmk2024

Today, on International Women’s Day, I stand here, "virtually" clapping my hands, to celebrate and honor all the remarkable women leaders out there - those who defy conventions, break molds, and change the status quo. But let’s not stop there; this applause extends to any leader who refuses to be confined by “the norms”👏 As the CEO of a data and knowledge company, I’ve delved into diversity statistics on this significant day. 21 percent. That’s the share of women CEOs in Sweden, Norway, and Finland. It’s the exact same figure across all these markets! I have stated in earlier posts, diversity to me is broad and includes age, sexuality, nationality, disabilities or even personality. Standing up for who I am and want to be, both as myself and as a leader. I also want to share some data on a more positive note. As I have mentioned in an earlier post, Enento recently got awarded in Finland for being among the top 15 mid-cap companies in Nasdaq Helsinki in the Nordic Business Diversity Index, related to diversity of senior leadership in Nordic listed companies 🎉 As a matter of fact, by the end of 2023 we had 50 percent of women and men in both our Board of Directors and our Executive Management Team 💪 I wish you all a very nice weekend! #womensday2024 Karolina Jacobson Velin Gabriella Göransson

Thank you Budapest Stock Exchange for the invitation to last week’s Issuers Forum. The topic we discussed was Women on Boards, in light of the 2022/2381/EU Directive, targeting higher female participation in leadership positions. Energy is surely not a front-runner industry in this space, however even there a growing number of great CEE and more international examples to be found, on how to increase female participation on all career stages from attracting, through keeping to promoting talents. Based on our study with Women in Energy, WONY, I shared some of those examples and highlighted the power of promoting our already existing role models: there’s actually a pretty high correlation between visible role models and industry attractiveness - at least in the CEE energy industry. Thank you for the lively and engaging discussion to Magdolna Tokai (ALTEO Group, Hungarian Business Leaders Forum), Noémi Pallos, CFA (BlackRock) and Daniel Kormoczi (Budapest Stock Exchange)! #womenonboards #womeninenergy #bcg

🌍✨ Personal Insightful Read Alert! 📊🇩🇪 Hello, LinkedIn community! 🌟 Recently, I dove into a thought-provoking report by the Future Today Institute, exploring Germany's country scenarios. 📈🔍 Here's a glimpse into the challenges ahead: 1. Demographic Challenges: 🧓👶 Germany faces rapid aging, dwindling birth rates, and a growing elderly population, potentially leading to labor shortages and economic strain. 2. Geopolitical Uncertainty: 🌐💥 Global instability, like the Ukraine conflict, could disrupt supply chains, spike energy costs, and impact foreign trade—critical for Germany's economy. 3. Digitalization Lag: 💻📉 Germany's digital infrastructure lags behind, posing hurdles to innovation and global competitiveness. 4. Energy Transition: ⚡🌱 Transitioning to renewable energy sources is complex, requiring stable supply while meeting climate goals. 5. Political Fragmentation: 🗳️🤝 The rise of populism and political fragmentation may impede reforms and addressing key issues effectively. The report outlines scenarios where the government either proactively tackles challenges or maintains the status quo. 📄💡 Amidst these complexities, the report provides clarity on Germany's current crossroads. 🛣️ Now, I'm curious about your insights! Do you believe Germany can regain its former competitive edge? Or are the challenges too monumental to handle? Let's discuss! 💬🤔 #FutureTrends #Germany2024 #EconomicOutlook #GlobalChallenges 🌍🔍📈
Germany is at a crossroads. Will it embrace the opportunities of the present or just attempt to protect the status quo? Decisions today will decide if the country will be a leader or laggard on the global stage over the next decade. Our CEO Amy Webb is launching our Germany scenarios today at #EUROPE2024 in Berlin with a keynote to leaders in business and government of the region, asking this very question. The scenarios, written by our Head of Europe Christina von Messling, provide two versions of the country in 2035: one in which it is thriving and one of a slow but steady decline. Read the scenarios here for in-depth analysis and specific next steps business leaders can take today to ensure continued growth and innovation: https://lnkd.in/evhK-CkW Thank you to Handelsblatt and the PULSE Women Economic Network Network, specifically Andrea Wasmuth and Jan Kleibrink, for the extensive support in creating this report.

Thank you All About Shipping, the voters and in particular John Faraclas and Anny Zade - it is such an honour and I am humbled to have been acknowledged as one of the top 100 women in shipping yet again! ❓ Why is this top ranking list so important to me? Because it serves several topics: In general, we all love ranking lists, because they convert large amount of data into small chunks of information - as one viewpoint on the specific item. Certainly, these chunks are to be reviewed with care - but they are a starting point for further investigation and discussion. 🎇 Furthermore, these lists put a spotlight on a topic. 📣 Exactly this spotlight on women in maritime is needed. It shows easily how many women are already working successfully in maritime - next to the many more that are not listed. This enables all of us building up a supportive and diverse network and also foster to find female mentors. I would like to use this chance to also highly recommend WISTA International - I am sure a national WISTA association is not far from you 😊 📣 Secondly, such a list also reveals role models and attracts more talents to our industry. 👏 Congratulation to all other women on the list and all women growing and over-archiving every day - you are such an inspiration to me. 🙏 A big thank you to all people, companies and institutions that are supporting, encouraging, challenging and spot-lighting women. #shipping #womeninshipping #diversity #WISTA #womenwhomovetheworld #WISTAgermany

As we celebrate International Women’s Week, a lookback to a conversation Nigel Walker of That's Nice and Pharma's Almanac. While we discussed technology advancements and new opportunities, we acknowledged these things are only possible through the next generation of innovators. This underscores the critical need for diversity in leadership roles to drive these innovations forward. Let’s continue to empower and support women and others in healthcare and beyond! #InternationalWomensWeek #DiversityInnovation #WomenInLeadership
