▶️ Edwards Lifesciences and Flying Health, together, took a closer look on how capacity-enhancing innovations can help to release & reallocate resources and, as a result, improve care. Capacity-enhancement will be crucial to address upcoming challenges in the German healthcare sector caused by staff shortages, budget constraints and the increasing demand due to demographic changes. The added value of new healthcare technologies must be broadly defined considering these challenges and should not be limited to clinical parameters and acquisition costs. Incentivizing capacity-enhancing innovations on different levels will help to build a resilient healthcare system. To read more about #CapacityEnhancing #Innovations and how they can improve healthcare on several levels, visit the Flying Health’s blog to download the position paper: http://ow.ly/z0Le1050lH9 #Healthcare #Innovation #CapacityEnhancingInnovations #MedTech #Hospitals #NextGenerationHealthcare

"You can't fix analysis for something spoiled by design" This was a topic title for a Congress I'm attending this week, and it couldn't be more true. I've seen great research done in a vacuum by one area of a company, one lab, one group, for them to find out that the outcomes don't apply to the larger population or setting or don't answer questions physicians have. This is why collaboration in research is SO important. Here are some ways to expand your research to match the need outside of the basics (unless you are in a lab in a race to publish first...) 1. Talk to your target patient Bring in patients and TALK TO THEM. Ask them what their day-to-day is like, and how a therapy or intervention you are testing might impact them, both positively and negative. Ask about what might make them want to try something new, especially if they've been on a treatment for a while or have shopped around and are exhausted with trying new things. You can also do market research (and publish it too!) This sounds SO simple, but you'd be surprised at how this tactic is underutilized. 2. Bring in other researchers Ask other researchers to consult and look at your protocol (if/when appropriate) and find out if you've forgotten anything or are adding confounders. 3. Make sure your endpoints match your game plan Endpoints should not only be geared towards the end goal (FDA approval or preferred outcome) but also should work in the real world with things like payor approval and patient acceptance 4. Talk to your prescribers before the research plan is complete Talk to HCPs about what they would want to get out of the study - are there burning questions they need answers before they use the intervention? Do they have reservations about it unless certain endpoints are given? Is there something that would push them past the status quo? 5. Use internal expertise Medical Affairs have lived this experience from data generation to patient, payor, and HCP education initiatives. We usually have a good idea what questions we might get, and can often help internally by reviewing the protocol. If you need help with protocol reviews or finding assistance for managing the above activities, let's chat. [email protected] #clinicaltrials #research #medicalaffairs #patientvoice
