"The Massalit Will Not Come Home” horrified by what I’ve just read in this Human Rights Watch report. The report is devasting, sickening to read really but so important for the world to know. It paints a grim picture of systematic violence, including killings, rape, torture & forced displacement. No person should ever have to live through such trauma & atrocities. As the world witnesses atrocities against civilians, it's imperative to amplify their voices & demand justice. This is a #humanitarian crisis & we need action now! Eyes on #Sudan now! These are unconscionable acts. Together, let's stand in solidarity with the victims & survivors, & work tirelessly to provide immediate #lifesaving assistance to #Sudanese people & ensure voluntary safe return of displaced communities.

In this era of post-colonialism, the most exploited country in Africa by foreign countries is the Democratic Republic of Congo. The DRC is the #1 producer of cobalt, so every nation pretty much robs them of this precious metal by causing instability with tribal conflict and Islamic terrorism. As a result of all of this instability, people living in the country do not value their lives because Mpox is spread mostly by sexual contact. Plus, there also must be plenty of pedophiles traveling to the DRC as well. #africa2024

We kindly invite you for a webinar "Reparative Justice II: Challenges of Listening when Interviewing Traumatized Witnesses". It will take place on Monday, 8 January 2024, 1:00-3:00PM EST / 6:00-8:00PM GMT / 7:00-9:00PM CMT / 8:00-10:00PM EET & IST. INVITATION: International Center for the Study, Prevention and Treatment of Multigenerational Legacies of Trauma webinar is held in collaboration with Project Sunflowers. It is second in a series, following a primarily conceptual introduction to reparative justice. Here we answer its call for specialized training for professionals and others engaging with victim/survivors of war’s massive trauma to help heal and protect both victim/survivors and themselves from re/traumatization of sharing traumatic experiences. This international multidimensional, multidisciplinary webinar precedes the teaching/training process of potential interviewers about some of the main populations they would collect evidence from or about. These include (deported) children and their family members, victims of conflict-related sexual violence, torture victims, refugees, prisoners of war and members of the military. Ukrainian-English interpretation will be provided More info: https://lnkd.in/dYypvUDf

INTERNATIONAL DAY for the ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN Since we are marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, it is necessary to record that neither UN Women, nor the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, nor any other UN body has condemned the gender-related killings and sexual atrocities against Israeli women and girls (Femicide) by Hamas on October 7th. Nor has there been any mention or condemnation from international women’s organisations. “ Combatants from Gaza overran 22 Israeli communities, killed at least 1,200 and took 240 hostage in the surprise attack. But their greater goal, sexual trauma specialists say, was to introduce terror against women — and children and other unarmed civilians — as a means of spreading fear.” “The torture of women was weaponized to destroy communities, to destroy a people, to destroy a nation,” said Cochav Elkayam Levy, the head of a nongovernmental commission investigating crimes perpetrated against women and children Oct. 7.” “The Israeli commission, established by Elkayam-Levy, is working to compile a comprehensive database of the assault that day, based on the testimonies of survivors, witnesses, medical examiners, first responders, police and militants themselves, many of whom participated first from behind the camera, as they recorded their actions, and later in front of the camera, as they were interrogated by Israeli security forces.” Read this Washington Post report below. #IDEVAW2023 #rapeisnotresistance #webelievethem #noexcuse

DOCTORS DESCRIBE ATROCITIES SEEN IN GAZA The situation in Gaza is heartbreaking Since the 7 October escalation in the 75-year Palestine-lsrael conflict, Israel's military operation has killed more than 32,000 Palestinians, injured more than 74,000 and destroyed about 70 per cent of homes. Doctors who have been treating Palestinians see the impacts daily, as Dr Nick Maynard explained at a recent press conference held at the United Nations in New York. He recalled the injuries that have kept him awake at night, particularly those of women and children. In one case, he said a child's burns were so severe that facial bones showed. Yet, not a drop of morphine was available to dull the pain of a child who was due to die. Since 7 October, more than 13,000 children have been killed, with women and children making up 80 per cent of deaths. Lack of fuel, medical supplies and clean water, as well as the threat of being held hostage, tortured and/or killed, are among the challenges hospital staff face. Maynard was travelling last week with a delegation of doctors headed to Washington to meet with US officials to press for an immediate ceasefire. Then, on 25 March, after more than five months of attempts, the UN Security Council voted in favour of an immediate ceasefire. Only the United States abstained. However, the ceasefire will only be effective for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which ends in two weeks. The resolution also calls for the flow of aid and the release of 134 Israeli hostages held in Gaza. However, it did not mention the more than 2,000 Palestinians held without charge in lsraeli prisons. #Gaza #October7 #Palestine #Conflict #Israel #Military #Injury #Doctors #PressConference #UN #NewYork #Women #Children #CeaseFire #USA #Ramadan Source: african_stream

Powerful photo showing the multiple Israeli aggressions over recent years. Operation Cast Lead (2008): 1,385 Palestinians killed - 318 children. Operation Pillar of Defence (2012): 168 Palestinians killed - 33 children. Operation Protective Edge (2014): 2,251 Palestinians killed - 556 children. Operation Breaking Dawn (2022): 49 Palestinians killed - 17 children. Operation Swords of Iron (2023 ongoing): more than 17,700 Palestinians killed - over 7,000 children, 48,800 wounded. All in just 65 days. Of the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, 47% are children, most have lived their entire lives under a blockade and are subjected to severe trauma. A study finds 95% of children in Gaza suffer from anxiety and depression.

#CeaseFireNow ActionAid urgently calls on leaders across the world to employ all available means to stop the bombing, ensure a ceasefire is in place, de-escalate the violence and protect civilians, particularly women and children. Gaza highlights the international community’s failure to address the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls. The time for action is now. Gaza is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a woman or child right now. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, women and children make up around 70% of those martyred since 7th October. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that 7,779 children have been killed as of 31 May 2024. UN Women estimates that more than 10,000 women have been killed, including 6,000 mothers, leaving behind more than 19,000 orphaned children. On top of that, of the more than 84,000 people injured, 75% are estimated to be women. The direct target of hospitals and obstruction to healthcare facilities by Israeli forces, alongside the limited access to medical supplies, has also endangered around 50,000 pregnant women and 20,000 newborn babies (ActionAid).
