over decades globally, there's enough fashion waste; amount of discards form mountains on landfill sites, suffice to build land bridges to transform islands into peninsulas. caught my attention when I heard "insulation"! I think noise & temperature insulation is much appreciated in this part of the world. what say you? share your thoughts below #fashionwaste #fabric #fabbrick #sustainability #sdg #ccpn #alvin10

Taking care of our common home, Earth, is everyone's duty. Latika Khosla sets an inspiring example towards that. Khosla founded Freedom Tree Design Studio in 2002. But saw that plastic waste continues to flood our oceans. Factories keep on exploiting precious fossil fuels and waste management is still a critical issue globally. So Latika Khosla understood her responsibility and started making conscious choices from there. With time, sustainability became the brand’s DNA. So at Freedom Tree Design Studio, All the fabrics are made from biodegradable materials. 90% of Teakwood is sourced from old Homesteads. 90% of ceramics are single-fired. 30 options are made from recycled yarns. 33% of decor items are made from reclaimed materials. Also, they partnered with two sustainability-focused organizations - Circulation Mission and Bare Necessities. We’re in awe of how you support small-scale industries and artisans while conserving energy, Latika Khosla. Let’s collectively move forward toward a responsible world! #Sustainable #D2CIndia #D2C #EcoFriendly #SustainableHeroesOfIndia

Our fabrics matter to us! We have therefore carefully selected the fibres and trims our garments are made from and built in higher levels of quality so our garments last longer to help reduce their environmental impact. Merino wool is a natural fibre and therefore totally sustainable to grow and when it biodegrades, releases all the nutrients and minerals back into the soil, enriching it for nature to flourish. TENCEL™ fibres and manufactured from the renewable raw materials such as Bamboo or wood waste sourced from sustainably managed forests. Being a natural fibre, TENCEL™ also biodegradable and compostable and can fully revert back to nature. Introducing REECO®'s New Durability Index We're excited to announce that REECO® is pioneering a groundbreaking initiative to develop a durability index for natural fibers, starting with linen. Did you know that linen is one of the most durable natural fibers in the world, alongside hemp? Historically, linen and hemp were used to make ropes for sailing ships because the lignin in these fibers provides superior resistance compared to other natural fibers. Despite its remarkable durability, no standardized durability index for garments has been published—until now. At REECO®, we are committed to environmental sustainability and innovation. We are diligently working to gather reliable data and make comprehensive comparisons with other fibers. This will not only highlight linen's exceptional qualities but also help improve our environment by promoting more sustainable choices. Stay tuned for updates as we continue our research and work towards publishing the first-ever Durability Index. Together, we can make informed decisions for a greener future. #Sustainability #Innovation #Linen #NaturalFibers #Durability #REECO #EcoFriendly #GreenInitiative #TextileIndustry #EnvironmentalImpact

When discarding or donating your clothes, remember to #segregate and give them #separate. Before dropping off your clothes at a nearby dry waste collection centre or designated collection point: - Sort your clothes - Ensure they are completely dry - Check for any mold or mildew - Give dry, clean clothes separately - Keep contaminated or spoiled clothes separate This helps prevent cross-contamination and ensures that your clothes can be effectively recycled into new items. Every small action counts and yours can make a big difference!" #textilewaste #recycle #recycletextile #enviu
In this video, Krushna reminds us that old clothes or textiles can be given SEPARATELY to the dry waste collectors. This way, they won't go to landfills and can be recycled instead. A strong policy-mix is essential for accelerating the #circulareconomy. Yet, designing a comprehensive policy landscape to promote high-value circularity is a major #policymaking challenge. We built a circular economy policy canvas tool to map out the circular policies in different sectors and to identify #gaps in the policy-mix, now published in Resources, Conservation & Recycling: https://lnkd.in/eF_H2WbG Below is a mapping for the #fashion and #textiles industry and it can be extended to other essential resources and sectors.
