👁️ 𝐃𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐲𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 👁️ Up to 50% of people worldwide suffer from Dry Eye symptoms everyday with many not knowing the cause. Bausch Lomb shared the results of their recent 'State of Dry Eye' survey in the US which showed that 75% of sufferers find the symptoms extremely bothersome, making it difficult to enjoy day-to-day activities. If left untreated, dry eye symptoms can get worse and progress to DED, but 44% of those surveyed were unaware that this can lead to further problems and even vision loss. NuVision Biotherapies Ltd recently announced the publication of a 6 month randomised control trial from Aston University of sutureless applications of Omnigen and OmniLenz for the treatment of Dry Eye Disease. 💫Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is an uncommon medical condition characterized by the growth of one or more lesions in the small intestine or the upper portion of the pancreas. They are referred to as gastrinomas. These gastrinomas generate substantial quantities of the hormone gastrin. Overproduction of gastric acid, induced by gastrin, results in the development of peptic ulcers. Gastrin excess can also result in abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and additional symptoms. 💫The onset of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is possible at any point in an individual's lifetime. However, most individuals become aware of their condition between the ages of 20 and 60. Medications used to reduce gastric acid and promote ulcer healing are the standard treatment. Some individuals may also require surgical removal of tumors. Is it clinically meaningful to assess for #Sustained_Corneal_Nerve_Damage in patients with #diabetes? Our latest paper shows that sustained corneal nerve damage is associated with the development and progression of #Diabetic_Neuropathy. Regular CCM monitoring may enable the identification of those at greater risk of developing and worsening diabetic neuropathy who may benefit from more aggressive risk factor reduction.
