Imagine a party where everyone is dancing, but there's no music blasting. You'll get wireless headphones that let you choose between different DJs. Watch as people groove to their own beats, switching channels, dancing and singing in sync. The colorful LED lights on the headphones add to the fun. It's a personalized party experience where you control the volume, the genre, and even the social interactions. Want to chat with other brands and buyers? Just take off your headphones and enjoy a conversation without shouting over blaring speakers. When you're ready to re-join the party, just put your headphones back on!

SweatWorks celebrated its 12th year this week and I could not think of a better way to kick it off than with our new partnership with EGYM.
Our two organizations have shared similar beginnings and visions:
💡 We both incubated our idea during our time in business school.
📲 We both looked at the digitization of the world driven by the growth of the iPhone and mobile computing but seeing little done to bring the technology to fitness.
🏋️♂️ Our visions were aligned from the start: to leverage technology to help make fitness and wellness more accessible. We went through different pathways: EGYM being equipment and platform focused; while SweatWorks was building bespoke solutions driven by the consumer experience.
🚀 We both started in the same decade: 2010 / EGYM, 2012 / SweatWorks
Most of the talk around EGYM has been around their new AI, Genius, and their recent $200M raise. What most people don’t know is that EGYM had very humble beginnings - something that most entrepreneurs can resonate with.
In 2010 Philipp founded EGYM along with his co-founder Florian Sauter. They built the first prototype themselves and drove around Germany looking for investors. With only one prototype - they sold eight machines to their first gym client!
We are excited about what our combined organizations can achieve together. In addition to integrations with commercial devices and platforms, our initial partnership is focused around brining our bespoke capabilities and integrations to the consumer experience to EGYM’s digital platform.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring this together. We are grateful for our partnership.

In classic CoffeeSpace fashion, we invite you to an event to be remembered.
Since launching our mobile app a couple of months ago, Carin Gan and I have received a fair bit of inbounds from people wanting to know more about what we’re building. In addition to the one-on-ones, we thought it might be a good idea to host a live event to pitch our vision and share our plans :)
Coupled with the hundreds of users we already have in SF and the wider Bay Area as well as the recent launch of our community round, this would also be the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together.
This is an invite-only event as we want to ensure those who are interested in investing are prioritized. So if you are an investor, an angel, or curious about investing, join us!
We’re backed by exited founders, YC-backed founders, and angel investors from Google, Meta, Quantum Black, and more. Since launching the app 12 weeks ago, we have passed 2,600 signups, 2,750 matches, and 50,000 swipes on our platform.

A couple of days late (have you noticed?), but here it is: EP 109 of HTM with a sniffly Fabian powering through a fascinating conversation on all things brand building 🔥🎧
This episode brings us Rockwell Shah, the CEO, and N.B. Patil the Co-Founder & CTO of Ozlo Sleep, an innovation startup in the sleep technology space.
All three of Ozlo’s Co-Founders are former Bose veterans and they acquired and licensed assets from Bose to resurrect the discontinued but beloved Sleepbuds.
This episode is a fascinating conversation about building a new brand on existing IP, the fragile tension between what customers say they want and what they actually need, building a brand not on a singular product but a grander vision, how most consumer startups fail because they are not telling the right story, and how branding, in the end, is all about alignment – a simple but deep thought that we are exploring further together today.
Listen wherever you enjoy HTM, and please rate and review the show if you have not done so yet 💯

In less than 8 years, Sanjit Biswas scaled Samsara from 0 to over $1B ARR. In our latest conversation, Sanjit shares all the lessons he’s learned about running a hyper growth organization, including all the changes he’s made since growing and selling his first company Meraki to Cisco for $1.2B and going on to scale Samsara to a public business with $20B. A great episode for anyone who wants to continuously reinvent themselves within a rapidly changing workplace.
The 70-20-10 Rule
Samsara uses a simple framework to balance doubling down on things that are already working and going after new opportunities that will build the future. Here’s how Samsara allocates capital and time…
70% toward making the core products and platform better
20% toward key upgrades in the immediate horizon - projects you’re pretty confident will work and make a big difference for your customers
10% toward ambitious, long-term bets
Many of the moonshot ideas may fail, but the goal is to plant many seeds so some eventually graduate into the 20% bucket and deliver durable value for decades to come.
How to build a company to endure
In addition to dedicating 10% of their efforts to speculative, long-term projects, Samsara adopts several strategies for sustained growth. Unlike with Meraki, Sanjit hasn't pinpointed a single dominant competitor foreshadowing any potential acquisition of Samsara, and the market is large enough to build and build and build.
With no defined end-goal, the team considers more long-term ramifications of their decisions, whether it’s related to technology, hiring, or shaping company culture. This mindset has led to a more deliberate approach to major decisions, complete with lots of experiments before committing to something.
Rehiring yourself every year
When you’re in a rapid growth environment, it’s important to keep hitting refresh on what is most important. Once a year, Sanjit does a 360 degree review on himself and asks himself “what does the company need most from me next?” He also does an audit of his time allocation by color coding his calendar (now automated). It’s easy to get whisked away and over/under allocate your time to certain tasks, so having a record of your plan vs what you’re actually up to can help course correct any misallocation.
