Direct-connect Operator Training Simulator is a #simulator in which the dynamic model is connected to the actual Distributed Control System (DCS) of the plant. This will be a separate DCS system dedicated to the OTS, which will use a copy of the plant's DCS database. The biggest advantage of the direct-connect OTS is enabling the #operators to train in an environment most similar to what they experience in a real plant. PID Control of ABB Drives PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control is a widely used technique in industrial automation to achieve precise control of various processes. In process PID control, a process reference (setpoint) is connected to the drive instead of a speed reference. An actual value (process feedback) is also brought back to the drive. The process PID control adjusts the drive speed in order to keep the measured process quantity (actual value) at the desired level (setpoint). This means that user does not need to set a frequency/speed/torque reference to the drive but the drive adjust its operation according to the process PID. In this video, we will explain the basic principles of PID control and demonstrate how to set up and tune the PID parameters using the ACS180 and ACS380 drives.

I'm excited to announce that I had an opportunity to conduct a introductory session for our newly joined GET and PGET-2024 batch on simulation testing. During the session, we have covered the basic concept of substation related data flow: 🔍 Substation reporting data and how data flows from field-level devices to the process bus. 🔄 Data flow from the process bus to the station bus over the IEC-61850 protocol, and how the substation reports to the control center SCADA over the IEC-104 protocol. 💡 As part of the hands-on demonstration, we simulated a substation database to simulate breaker status data signals over both IEC-61850 and IEC-104 protocols. Powerful tools and applications we have used for this demonstration are as follows: DS-Agile gateway SCE configurator Equipment Simulator S-Bus Agency VINCI IED-Scout It was a highly interactive session showcasing the valuable insights into the practical aspects of substation reporting and the importance of effective data communication protocols. #SubstationAutomation #SimulationTesting #IEC61850 #IEC104 #SCADA #PowerSystems #EngineeringExcellence #TrainingSession #ProfessionalDevelopment
